Add More Battleships To The Game

After all, a squadron of light cruisers did take on the Graf Spee.
/bux
Graf spee was apocket battleship. which means it was in its arnement was *i think* around 8 inches. its main asset was its speed. They were designed as merchant raiders not as real battleships.

And thats what Enigma seems to be primarily about. Sinking merchant convoys. in the multiplayer aspect it would be amazing to play any of the big ships as you would have to decide between two roles. I'm assuming the ports we will be fighting over will only stand if they keep getting supplies.

Task force: Protect convoys, ports and carriers, stay in large packs. (more like ww1) it would be in this you would find ships like the Texas, Yamato, King George V. and most ww1 style ships.

Marchant raider: Move around in small groups of 1-4 ships avoiding as best you can find a convoy sink as much as you can and disapear. Ships like the Bismarck, Hms Hood, Scharnhorst and most other battlecruisers. (average merchant fleet: 1 battleship, 1 or 2 light cruisers)

What i want to know is how will the tracking of ships work? Will ships have to be spotted by aircraft (which will be directed by port and carrier commanders to certain areas) or other ships and then reported in. Also should subs have to surface to send and recieve updates on the world map? This would make playing a battlecruiser very intense as you would have to be constantly on the watch for enemy positions and plan your strike.

on the distance between battleships in battle. Lots of solution. Increase the range (and stability) of the binoculers to allow for viewing long range.

on them being too powefull. balance it.

-weak against aircraft

-average range of sight

-weak against submarines.

Give ships like light cruisers much better line of sight. For example realisticly light cruisers like the Norfolk had radar which means they can track enemy ships easier. (and admit it what would be more tense, then shadowing a number of battleships)

the problem with enigma's singleplayer with battleships is that your put automatically into a battle which doesnt allow for as much strategic tactics.

Battleships = bigger/slower moving target for my Sub :P
As long as there isn't an abundance of them, battleships should be included. (Even just AI). They should be something to be feared and fear can improve a games playabilty. Just look at Doom3. Image
i try to hit a battleship but it took me all my torps for one battleship man >;(

Cruisers, we desperately need cruisers. Everyone here seems battleship crazy! If we end up with everyone in multiplayer blasting from miles away at each other with the heavyweights it will soon get one-sided and boring. Give me some more intermediate range ships anyday over the biggies. Lets have sloops also, both WWI and WWII types, in fact why doesn't the future game include upgrade options if you have to head back to a port for re-fit ? The upgrades could be bought with either an increase in rank due to missions successfully fulfilled or perhaps through salvage or some fictitious form of prize money.
what cruisers like what the USS long beach?

sugestion, uss texas it still exists, and has the most armarment of any battleship, was the fastest , could turn on a dime, and couyld take the most punishment
Actually the most heavily armed Battleship was the Yamato
Ignoring contrants of time, I would have to say that the Missouri is the most powerful battleship ever built....considering the revamp she took that gave her Harpoon and Tomahawk capabilities among other things....you complain about the long range hits, she could start pounding at you from 600 miles away with just a spotter in the form of a satelite (if that...dunno if tommie-Ds can home).

Not to meantion how imposing the ship looks.....she took a kamekaze and the life of a Japanese pilot scratched the paint and barely dented the armor.

I've not made it through the missions yet, but do you actually get to command the Hood at some point?

I would love to see BB's, Cruisers of all types (having just watched Battle of the River Plate last night, I have a soft spot in my heart for the Exeter), but I am not so sure about CV's.

Gollygeewhiz, though, I am really looking forward to Multiplayer. What will one need to participate? Will a regular 56K modem suffice? (No broadband in my area yet :()
