I've been playing the demo and have noticed that the sub has almost no time submerged before its batteries run out. I would think, even in an alternative history timeline, subs would have at least as much capability as they did in actual history. My Type VII U-boat in SHII could stay under for at least a few hours before surfacing, yet in Enigma, battery life seems to be considerably less than an hour...
anyone know what gives?
P.S. I just ordered the game online anyway, because it's damn good, regardless.
We did it to increase the pressure for the player in a submarine. If you are taking advantage of the visibility rules, your battery can last for several hours. The faster you go, the faster it drains.
Thanks for your reply. I'm unclear on your reference to "visibility rules"; Can I trade visibility for battery time?
Going slow in a sub keeps the surface guys from seeing you very accurately. It also extends your battery life a bunch. Because the sub is so slow underwater, many submariners like to bash around at Flank or Full, doing pivot turns, blowing the tanks for a quick depth change, etc. These things all make you VERY visible to the surface guys.
