Cruising NE along with a second patrol boat -- which is a short distance ahead of me -- hunting a lone American sub which I've picked up on me detection gear.
It starts out a coupla thousand yards away, and as we're closing I've tentatively set my depth charges to 150 (half rack) and I'm peering through my binocs for any torpedoes coming my way.
Not far in I hear a warning of torps off the port bow. And then I see 'em
Sharp course change to starboard, followed by a dogleg turn to port (which brings me back to facing NE) makes them miss. More fun as I watch them zoom by.
But then, Big shock
Through my binoculars I see the bastard come crashing to the surface!!
It's a beautiful image, watching the sub's bow come tearing up out of the water a few hundred meters north of my partner ship. But before I can do anything, the other patrol boat just wallops the thing with its deck gun.
Makes for nice screenshots
But I didn't do anything except NOT DIE
Under no illusions that the game will soon get a lot harder.
