Multiplayer World

I'm sure you've answered this kind of question before but could you outline how the multiplayer will work. Its supposed to be some kind of whole world environment i'm led to believe? Does this mean you can sail all the way across the Atlantic if you've got a spare week or will it just be a HUGE map with islands and the like dotted around. How does one side perform well, is it just amount of kills or control of strategic points? Whatever else you can think of will be appreciated, i'm hungry for info.
Oh yeah, roughly when will it be released? I thought Christmas but i'm getting confused with so many different things going on?
The idea is a 1:1 real world map.
And the first edition of the MP, will be, you pick a faction (those that pick that faction too is your team mates), then you are assigned to a mission by your fleet command, but just cuz "you" and "me" choose the LFN faction, doesnt mean we will ever meet on open sea, as we can be assigned to missions on each side of the globe.

And the beta release date is at Xmas 2003 (ETA).
Loocking good, loocking great!
You will have control over what missions you accept.  You will also have the ability to travel to diverse places.  We aren't enforcing a strict time and distance during the "Wargame" mode of multiplayer - which is what is getting released first.
We'll start posting details about the upcoming features to multiplayer on www.warfleet.net after the US and foreign language versions are out the door.
Hmm. I'm still a little confused. What types of mission do you get? Does this mean that combat takes place in a small area (like SP) or if for example you are guarding a convoy you can be attacked by anyone at anytime along the convoy route?
youre orders could be:
Leave Hamburg at 2100 hours, sail for the middleterranian, and rendevouz with U626 and DD884, then head towards the atlantic and sink HMS Hood, if you spot any enemies ships, then engage at once. I think. ;)
