There are 4 enemy DDs versus 3 or 4 of the USN. 2 enemy DDs are to the east, the other 2 to the west of your convoy.
I chose to turn hard starboard and ENGAGE the DDs to the west. So did another USN DD. We each knocked out one of the DDs, taking many big gun hits to our hulls but still surviving OK.
The mission already prompted me with a victory quit window but I elected to go on, as one last enemy DD remained to the west. The USN DD(s) that went out there were lost but they went down taking one of the enemy DDs with them.
We started firing head on at each other, both scoring hits. My hull was at the point of decimation so I decided to chicken out, accept the victory, and abruptly ended the mission.
