In this mission, you're commanding the RNE DD Bagheeria. You're accompanied by two commandable DEs. Your objective is to sink a KLM merchantship convoy, closely guarded by a pair of DEs and a DD.
You start off with your bow facing north. Up ahead of you, slightly out of visibility, is the convoy. The enemy warships are generally in the north eastern corner of the formation.
Set engines ahead flank. Assign both of your DEs to attack the enemy DD. Issue the DEFEND DECK GUNS and DEFEND AA GUNS command. Set your tubes to starboard-side.
When the enemy begins firing on you, set your heading to 290 degrees. Careful not to collide with your DEs, though they're pretty good at wiggling out of the way.
Use your targetting binocs at 1x magnification and fire all your torpedos in the direction of the various merchant ships that will come into range in your binocs. You're going to be hit by shells during this portion of the mission. So keep on making sure that your target binocs are always alligned starboardside.
At some point during or immediately after firing off all the torpedos, set heading to 270 degrees. You're about to retreat temporarily. I don't know how but between my DEs and my shell shots, one of the German DEs got sunk.
On my tail was the remaining DD and DE. It would appear that the DD was successfully damaged to some extent by my DEs, who were both sunk.
During this pursuit, with all of us heading due west, my DD could outpace the German's. Since my two twin 5 inch aft guns had more of a kick than the German's one twin 5 incher on her bow, I knew it was just a question of time before she would go down.
Since I was faster than the German DD, I would often reduce speed or stop until my rear guns began firing again, indicating the enemy was again within range.
I took a lot of hits and my hull damage status was way down but sure enough the German DD went down.
What was left was the German DE just behind the now-sunk DD and 2 merchants that I missed, about 11 kms away.
The DE was much slower than my max speed and my 5 incher's range was greater than the DEs 4 inch gun. So I kept a pace and range so that the DE was in my range but I wasn't in hers. Not a shot was fired by the DE while my twin guns were pounding her. Goodbye DE!
Make a 180 degree turn, pour yourself a coffee and head straight towards the remaining merchants. Target them in the TAC and use the ENGAGE command to direct your guns on them once they're in range. They'll be chum in seconds with your DD's 5 inchers.
