Klm - Sub Mission #4 (falklands)

Hey guys.
I'm stuck at the fourth German Mission at Falkland Islands.  What am I supposed to do to save the merchants?

I turn towards the incoming enemy vessels' date=' fire two torpedo to "scare them a little bit" and my crew is fireing all deck guns. As soon as the enemy ships get closer, I dive and start my run. Unfortunately, they sink my merchants WAY to fast (and there are even more enemy ships inbound).

Any ideas, hints, suggestions?

TIA!

Try giving them (the merchants) orders to flee the area.  Far NNW is a good spot.  This is done on the big-tactical screen btw.
Thx East  I'lll give it a try tonight
Cheers

PS: Great Game btw!!!
I'm having problems with this one myself  those damn Destroyers' date=' I sink em but its always too late. The DE that appear during the battle distroy the convoy. HELP Pls?:?
Great Game! :D[/quote']

I badly need help/advice on this mission.

For some reason I am still not able to win this mission despite the fact that I have:

1. Turned towards the 2 approaching Destroyer Escorts (DE)

2. Ordered my Merchants (M) to leave N/NW

3. Sank 1 DE (2 of my Ms have been sunk at the time)

4. Sank the other DE (3 of my Ms have been sunk by DE)

At this point I thought I had won, but the 3 other DEs approach and they tear the rest of my Ms up.

Can someone please tell me in detail as to what I have to do once I sank the 2 DEs? Am I suppose to sink the rest, surface to draw attention, or what else?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Secrets from Jesper's tactics book Image

TOP SECRET Image:lol:

1st; Soon as game starts open the BIG'TAC and zoom out to 16KM range and pause the game. Then click on a allied ship and order it towards North (approx at 320degrees), and repeat it for all the allies.

Now unpause game, order pivot towards the 2 DE's (which btw is DD's(Destroyers)) then order FLANK ahead, then order RIG FOR DIVE.

When the countdown timer reaches '0' click on the hatch icon, so you dont submerge, but is prepared for it.

Keep heading towards the DD's. when you get in ~2200-2500m or less fire 1 torpedo, aim to miss.

Aim 1-1? inch left or right off the DD's (if you chooses left then make sure that both DD's are on your RIGHT side (and opposite if you fire right))

This is to get both DD's turn the same way (that is super important).

Make sure you are constantly facing one of the DD's (preferly the one that is closest to your allies).

When you are close enough for battle (or have sustained significant damamge, then dive to ~11m and engage the DD youre facing. you need to make ALL 3 remaining torpedos hit.

Pivot around to catch them, make good use of the AFT tube to finalize the DD you just crippled while your BOW tubes are realoaded.

When you have sunk both DD's (if youre fast enough) the 3 DE's hasnt approached yet. Surface and sail at flank speed towards your allies and the mission is complete.

If youre feeling hardcore you can take on the DE's too. (I did)

Hope that helped it took awhile to write it and its 4:35AM in Denmark right now Image

Just forget the deck guns on this mission ,

The hatch closed means you are prepared to dive , the crew is not on deck to fire them !

Keep an eye on where you are headed and where the two DDs are , heading .

Veering a little to one side ,,and fire once ,, Look at what Jesper wrote , makes them both turn to the other side .

Wait until near last moment to dive , get nearer to them , head forward of them , launch the attack on nearest DD . All four torps might be ready again by then ,, or the fourth will be soon.. Dive below if they fire torps back at you . Then back up to periscope depth to launch more at them .

If this all fails ....Play again !

Rickr :: The ships will not seem to move rightaway ,,but check you are ordering them correctly,, ( Browse the board about that .)

Syndicate :

I just tried this Falklands surface 4 KLM /IGN/German , once again ,, to verify and double -check ; I never fired a deck gun once !

However ,, One must keep a cool head , as even after I sunk BOTH DDs , the message on dialogue said again thatit was hopeless ,, " better save ourselves " etc .. ( This is often just before the defeat box ! ) , however ,, I hung on,, and sank a third DD ,, Yet again a ' defeatist ' message in dialogue , so I just kept cool ( EVen tho' I say so myself ..) and proceeded to tackle the first DE ,, half wondering if the final defeat box was about to appear .... Damaged the DE ,, and just received the VICTORY message box .. before the DE struck my hull !...

I think it took the sinking of 3 ships ( and meanwhile 4 merchants ) before the Victory , because I accidentally sunk the further away of the two first DDs , and only damaged the first just before then , early on the way towards them .. Luckily my tubes were all reloaded before I got near them .

It's a tough mission . Would we want them too easy tho' ?

Keep Playin .

enigma!: Hot Damn!!!! Finally got past German #4. Had to sink 4 tho before I got the victory sign. Thanks Jesper and everyone else.
It seems that victory is triggered by three requirements:

1. You sink the 2 DDs.

2. A certain amount of your convoy ships are still afloat.

3. You rejoin or approach within a certain distance of your survivng convoy ships.

Maybe the alternative to 3 above is destroying any remaining enemy ships. Or maybe just after you destroyed the DEs, you came within trigger distance of your conviy. We would know if only the missions were editable.
