Backyard Brawl Event Last Night

It was my first Backyard Brawl Event I played. It was kind of confusing for me. I look at the rules, it just says 1 hour of action. About within 20 minutes into the game. We were all told to stop and go to another country, so we could start another one. Then after we all switch country, we started up and didn't stop until 1 hour later or longer. So 1st quarter was 20 minutes ? And 2nd quarter was 1 hour or longer ? Also sometimes in the 2nd quarter, I thought to my self, "Hmmm, I wonder why no one was going after the empty bases" ? So I headed toward the empty US base and took out a AA, and next thing I seen on screen. "Who is that over at the US base "? "That isnt aloud" ! Thats when I figured out we wasnt suppose to do that. So I stop right away. But all said and done, it was a big turn out last night, and I had a blast until half way thru the 2nd quarter when it got so uneven on sides, that I stop having fun.

As allways we have late comers.

Who dont see if the sides are even.

They just jump in.... not that you did.You can put in the full description....( keep tems even)

but very few pilots read the full description....( Correct me if Im wrong)

Now about the 20 min 1st half.

we started late due to waiting for more pilots.

in trying to keep on schedule I added the 10 min late start

to the 1st half , thus 1/2 hr for 1st half.

Then when time was over it was going so well I let it go over.

As you know im still tuneing up my skills on running events.

Sadly I find out that I cant fly and run the event at the same time.

I get involved in the fight and loose track of whos where.

but trying to keep the teams even when the event is going is a prob.

when pilots are fighting they are not listening to me.

So from now on I will start on time , and just run the event ,not fly.

The prob is when the teams get uneven and no one is listing /reading,

how do you even up the teams.?Do you stop the event and even the teams?

this event has run quit a few times now.

and the main problem is keeping the teams even,

Otherwise it has run smooth most of the time.

perhaps If we only leave the launch open for 10 min only after event starts

teams would stay even.

in the full description It does say no shooting bases that are not active...due to AI RATIO.

And I do anounce that in the rules at the start, (Correct me If im wrong)

I am glad you had fun all in all.

Thanks for the replying POPGUN. And about how to even the teams up ? Tell who ever just log into the game to go to the other side. That's the only way I know of.

easier said than done.

watching the map

and trying to read the log

and answering pilots

all at the same time gets diffacult.

the log goes by so fast in this event

with the pilots entering and dying so fast

its very hard to see whos just enered the game.

I say we close the event launch 10 min after start.

Even Teams

If it is that critical:

1) sign up in advance to participate.

2) Put a ref on each camp including the game manager sitting usa. This way you will have more 'eyes' on the game that can direct traffic.

Like Tbar & Nitro said and as follows;

1. Joining the event: all pilots who want to partake in this even; must do 1 or 2

things to participate: A. preregister or B. Enter 15 minutes prior to event start,

late comers after deadline, too bad, they are out! for example: They stayed to long

in FFA then realized hey where did all the pilots go!

2. Even Teams: the 15 mins gives the Admin time to send whomever to where that

pilot (s) needs to be in order to have an even playing field.

3. NO CHANGING ONCE YOUR IN A TEAM! : Some Pilots who have not participated in

most of these events are unaware, that admin has team change over to another base,

eliminate this, by once you choose and or sent to that team, then you stay with that

team throughout the duration period ending the event.

4. Only exceptions for late comers; No later than "5" minutes after starting time and

exception only if teams are uneven to fill in by Admin, Rule: late comers have to remain

on runway at all times till Admin acknowledges and confirms them as a participant,

refusal to remain till acknowledge & confirmed:"Booted!"

In reference to 1 & 4: this will help stop late entries, teams, uneven teams due to newcomers

and etc. These Pilots are already informed of these events time schedule, being posted in

advance, So in order to make Pop's job a little easier, Pop should enforce this, which sends

a message to all pilots, late entries will not be tolerated! Only my opinion, Gunny / Semper FI
