Posting on the Forums as a GUEST
This was a really good idea at first .. but now I see its being used as a way to mask oneself and hide.
I'm wondering if this policy should be changed. After all .. if you have worthwhile information .. requests etc .. and want to be a member .. why not register?

maybe restrict guest to read only?
read only.. not a bad idea .. but again the real question is should we allow them to post as in the past?
Yes or No
Yes or No
I have something to say about this topic. Oh yes I have been told by tbar that I shouldn?t post in here...first because I wasn't a director, then when I pointed out that it was also for staff, he told me I wasn't staff. Well whatever I am I do have a job to do in these forums and, in that capacity, I have to have a place to address the problems that arise from that job so I am going to post in here and the board of directors can sue me if they so desire.
Anyway to the point, I think it is silly to allow people to post as guests. We have a clear indication of why this is a problem from recent posts. I firmly believe that, if people have something to say they should identify themselves. It doesn't hold water for anyone to say they wish to remain anonymous to avoid being victimized by the administration. If that were true most of us who post in the forums would have been excommunicated long ago. I would probably be at the top of the black list for some of the things I have written. In any event I cannot properly moderate these forums unless I can identify those who post and be able to communicate with them by private message.
It may be that we should go even further than insisting that people register before they can post. Perhaps people should only be able to register under the same name as they register on the CLP. That way we could be almost certain of everyone's identity. I don't know if that idea is even feasible but I do think it is worthy of further debate.
This question of people being identifiable also strikes at the heart of why the wall of shame is ineffective. Temper has said he doesn't like the wall of shame because he doesn't think it does any good. Well I think it would have a lot more meaning if culprits had their registered tags revealed. I do believe folks would be less likely to misbehave under the camouflage of an alias if they knew they were going to be identified. Having an alias doesn't necessarily mean that you want to misbehave but we all know that is the reason behind some folks using them. I think that this possibility should be removed.

Yes, you do have a place to post .. "moderators board" this section. You are supposed to discuss problems with FM, he in turn may have the answer .. or may take the issue up with the BoD .. or may already be empowered to take an action.I have something to say about this topic. AT one time it was probably "good" to allow guest to post, at this time .. I feel the BoD should readdress this as stated. My opinion is guest posting has been abused and should no longer be allowed in all areas of the board. If a person has 'registration' problems its hard from them to post said problem if they can't post as a guest .. so as long as we keep that problem person in mind .. guest posting should be removed. IMHO
As FM Guest's should not be allowed to post only read, it's just a matter of clicking a permission box, take all of one second. I'm amazed that our WebMaster did not do this from the get go, never seen any forum where Guest had the permission to post, but then again this forum is different from all others.
The Bod and the Website Staff should be in one forum to work together quickly, as far as I'm concerned a Mod brought up this subject to our WebMaster weeks ago and got no response, I would expect that on a issue like this common sence would rule and the WebMaster would take the few seconds and disable it on his own knowing that guest never can post without registering and I don't care to hear that the BOD has to direct an order to do so, Micro Manage my ass, if in a thread like this the majority agrees to let guest post's then the permission is turned back on, not to waste time on a bs subject like this.
This is a joke, just more forums that are worthless and time consuming, the best and quickest way for things to be resolved is here not to waste time going thru alot of red tape. I some times wonder if our WebMaster realizes a majority of BOD members have full time jobs unlike himself where he can sit 24/7 to make forums up the cazu.Yes, you do have a place to post .. Let's put it this way, Todd. If the Board of Directors agrees with your idea of restraining the ability of a moderator to function I will be in the unemployed line. I didn't volunteer to help so that I could be governed by this sort of mindless bureacracy.
I admire and respect your accomplishments with this site, but the rest of us also have something to contribute. Let it go my friend.

Quack QuackI am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again
Well Hawk .. I don't take action that is not directed by the BoD. Its not my decision to make.
You seem to think the FM is all empowered and can do anything he wants. I do not.
You seem to think that an 'assistant' to the FM is empowered at the same level of the BoD.. I do not.
The BoD needs a place to discuss things .. without outside responses. You can name the forum anything you want to .. or use any terms you want to.. define it any way you want to .. but the BoD does need a private area. That was the original intent of this area.
So let me get this right .. if you decide you need 2-4 more assistants .. they too now have the right to the BoD room? If any manager decides they need more assistants .. they too have access to the BoD ?
It seems to me that you would defend the right of anyone to express an opinion .. so long as that opinion follows your line of thinking? Seems to me a few new faces show up .. and they know more of the "history and intentions" than any one else. Seems to me that 'common sense' is a point of view .. like an opinion and what is common sense to one may not be to another.
The word "Staff" needs to be readdressed .. by the BoD, IMHO. Not by a FM or a Web Manager. That is my opinion as stated in the first post of this thread. That simple.
Staff is relative and subordinate to the position it serves.
The director appoints, or the BoD elects "Managers" such as FM, Fun Events Mgr, League Manager, Web Manager, etc. These "managers" are the folks that are "STAFF" to the BoD. The Managers may also need some assistants or Staff, and that staff is staff to the Manager.. not the BoD. The Managers are the ones that work with the BoD. The Manager works with his staff .. and if a Managers staff members feel the need to address something they do so with/thru the Manager.
Understand what "micro management" is ..and it is NOT someone posting an opinion. Keep it clear I did not lay down any law. I stated what it was in the past .. stated it was NOT the fault of 'staff' .. but the fault of the FM and the BoD. Again.. I stated it should be addressed by the BoD .. not an argument. I guess you and other don't like our USAAC rules and regulation pointed out. Some folks point out these rules and regulation so we are not breaking our own rules. If the rules don't fit ... then the BoD can change them. So long as the rules are there .. we should operated under them.
As far as 'guest posting' subject .. it is not a matter of "common sense" and is worthy of being addressed by the BoD. There are legitimate reasons to allow guest posting .. but perhaps in restricted on topic area only.. for example a forum for HELP.
Stop attacking Tbar for Opinions please. Stop attacking Tbar for pointing things out, please. Discussion is fine .. but attacking is not. Our Forum Protocols point that out... keep it nice

Those people who have posted here in the BoD forum and told by me they really should not post here .. are by no means guilty of anything. Your opinions are not the subject of this 'disagreement'. You should not feel guilty or even feel 'spanked'. This "problem" is something the BoD needs to address and resolve, once they do there will be no 'issue'. YOU as an individual should continue to do what you have been doing as far as the "moderators" job is concerned. There is NO complaint about YOU and the job you have been doing by anyone that I am aware of.

That is your opinion. Working together and quickly I agree with. However in this forum if you allow anyone but BoD and Staff of the BoD to post.. might as well move all these topics out in the public area eh?The Bod and the Website Staff should be in one forum to work together quickly

The Webmaster is not the one to make policy on that. The topic was responded to in any event. The proper person to respond to that question was you Mr Hawk as FM .. but you did not. The Web Manager has nothing to do with the Forum policies.a Mod brought up this subject to our WebMaster weeks ago and got no response

They did get a response, you need to know what is going on within your own staff members. Clearly .. by "common sense" .. this is not the responsibility of the Web Manager. If the FM wants to make a decision on "guest posting" .. simply tell the Web manager what you want done. He does it. End of discussion. The FM is responsible to the BoD for actions he takes. The Bod and the Website Staff should be in one forum to work together quickly, as far as I'm concerned a Mod brought up this subject to our WebMaster weeks ago and got no response,

Hawk .. if this is a joke .. I'm not laughing. I fail to see the humor. The FM and BoD decides what forums are made up the cazu not me.This is a joke, just more forums that are worthless and time consuming, the best and quickest way for things to be resolved is here not to waste time going thru alot of red tape. The CO/XO and Staff Board must be the White House with all the rooms we are assigned to. We have to hire a host to escort all of us around the courtyard, LMFAO......
As the Directors Staff we should all be in the same room with the BOD so we can advise the Director and all be on the same dam page, get my sniff?????????????????????????
