Popgun sent me a PM and asked if we would like to play a soccer match against them. I of course cannot turn down such a fun game.

We'll need at least 10 pilots for this match. If interested please sign in below.

I'm going to try and get the game scheduled between 1: and 3 PM. EST on a Saturday so we can get the best turn out for our squad.

1. JOKER

2. TANGO

3. RECON

4. RED

5. BURTON (Play football with all of us US soccer players.) They should probably call it protected Rugby since they wear pad and helemts

To answer your question Tango. I usually play the ball. I set a couple of planes out as defenders (Goalies) and The rest go out and attack the opposing teams ball. I also sometime point a couple of guards to protect me, the BALL!. By the way everyone uses the same plane. SPIT XIV's.

Each team has a player designated as the ball. Both teams and both balls fly at the same time. The jist of the game is to shoot down the opposing teams ball while helping your teams ball score. The goals are the grid boundries running vertical between US and SU and GE and GB. There is also a 3,000 ft alt limit. All play takes place on the the bases inside the AA batteries.

It is a very fun game and like I said the team I have always played on has always won.

P.S. Tbar doesn't like playing games like this unless it is a war game. To me, if it's fun I'll play and this game is a blast!!!!

Burton will be there.

BUT, I must protest, Harumphhh!

I simply cannot allow this to continue, I have tried ... GOD KNOWS I have tried ... to turn the other cheek, to cross to the other side and walk on bye - and .. oh yes, yes, its not to strong to say I have even tried to .. to .. suffer fools gladly ;). But I can't do it ... I can't sit here and let this happen to my BSS colleagues, my reverred friends, my comrades in arms, my allies in adversity, my mates ( m8s .... for our young guns ) from around the globe ... god damn it ... I love you guys !!

SO I am compelled to get this straight once and for all .....

"BBC vs BSS soccer match. (Football for our UK friends)"

This is just plain... Wrong.... on SO many counts...

This should read ....

"BBC vs BSS Football match (Soccer for our US friends)."

This is now literally, gramatically, syntactically and above all historically correct.

FootBall, the clue's in the name. The original game, what our US cousins call soccer, is called football because 90% of the sport revolves around kicking a ball with a foot.

I understand there's some confusion from our US friends who have a disproportionaly popular game they also call football. But from observation, to me this appears to be 2 hours of commercials interrupted by 4 teams of 11 "throwing" and "catching" and "running with the ball in hand". Ocassionaly some guy sponsored by something called "GM" or "Macys" comes on with his 10 m8s and kicks the ball, then they all dissapear during a "message" from something called a "McCain" or an "Obama". So the US version of football has less than 10% of the sport revolving around kicking a ball... Go figure.

Oh, and a ball is ... ROUND OK !!

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me why the US Rounders Championship is called the "World Series" ?

PS - did you hear, the French broke the Hadron Accelerator .......... HAH ! Told you ;)
