Practice for ALL BSS / TOW squad members was held on Sunday, June 24, 2007. In attendance for the US squad

Tbar, Joker, Strife, & Talon. In attendance for the Euro Squad was Emrys.

We practiced general 2 on 2 combat in a private room and then went in to teams. ( I am unsure how things went throughout the entire teams play as I lost my internet connection and was unable to log back on until yesterday evening.)

All in all the 2 vs 2 combat was pretty good. At the start, I was pretty loose and was getting shot up a lot by Tbar. I was getting a little frustrated with myself and my stupid maneuvering. I have this funny ablitity to pull up in front of my enemy and give them and easy shot. If I can get on someones six I can usually out fly my opponent and get the kill. I think that we need more practice flying 2 vs 2 and 2 v 1.

Flying with your wingman should be a priority in order to make a complete team. We must learn how our wingman flies and he must learn how you fly. When you get into a 2 vs 2 and you are shot down then your wingman must know automatically what he needs to do to get back to you, or to get you back in the fight as soon as possible even if it means running to avoid combat with the enemy.

I noticed that when we started the SNL with FD last Saturday that we took and early lead in the match but quickly gave it up. There was hardly any communication between our pilots. No one that I saw was flying with a wingman, and I think that this was the failure of our squad. We must practice more and fly as wings. We also need more pilots, so recruit, recruit recruit.! We must also come up with a game plan and stick to it. The go right at'em approach doesn't seem to work very well even when we are flying the Zoom and Boomer planes, and myself personally I'm a little tired of it, as I seem to always be at the front of the pack and the first one or two shot down. Think of it as a number game. If its 6 vs 6, and you take just one of the enemy pilots out of the game, you decrease that teams firepower by 16.6% if two go down thats 33%. You have to remember that these pilots do come back into the game. Stay with your wingman at all times. If you are the lead pilot and you are attacking someone let your wingman know BEFORE you make the attack. Your wingman's job is to be your eyes and ears while you are attacking and to keep others off your six while you complete your attack. If you go into and attack and don't inform your wingman before attacking, he just may be checking the views and when he comes back your long gone chasing someone by yourself. Next thing you know you've got your wingman trying to catch up to you trying to get the bandit of your tail and you're 6000 ft away. Can you say flaming anus!

Your observations are near perfect ..

About Wingmen:

Before you go into a match and on paper you have a wingman assigned to you .. well that is great the first 1 minute of combat .. then everything goes to hell.

What you need to know is that you WING with the nearest and closest Squad member once the action get started.

If you get shot down .. when you take off .. try and wing up again .. don't go into combat by yourself .. not smart in most cases. Its better to get that ALT near your own base because chances are good you will get that wingman in a few minutes taking off .. then you can cover him to target while you get alt.

The guy with the alt .. should make the call as to the target .. etc.

well i must admit even though i am a newbie, and should already known better by now that i have occasionally ran into this problem.... taking for granted that my wingman had a definite lock on his opponent i would break off and go for the easy kill not knowing that his opponent also had a wing man trailing w/ a slightly higher alt. and before i knew it i was shot DOWN and my wingman shortly after

KEy POINT ............NEVER LEAVE YOUR WINGMAN!!!!!!! I will have to work on this . do we have assigned wingmen ? i'm not sure if this has ever been tried but i think it would add more chemistry to the

GREAT BSS!!

Talon,

I do believe that you, Jonny T-bar, Hotshot will be teaming up. You guys need to fly together as much as possible. Last night I had the opportunity to fly with Jonny for quite a while. Jonny is excellent in calling out enemy positions and letting you know whats going on. I wish that my abilities where as good as his.

The only other people that do this more completely is Air Boss and Tbar. Both of these guys have much more experience than all of us put together. Air Boss is excellent in the air to fly with and if you get the chance to wing with him DO IT!!!. Tbar also does a great job of keeping you informed letting you know whats going around you.

I've noticed that you have some pretty good flying talents as well as Emrys. I wish that I could get you two guys together because your flying styles are very similar.

Just stay away from me because I'll get you killed many times over again. I'm pretty much a loner and I think I do a pretty good job one on one, but this is team play so I need to learn myself.
