A couple of things that make a HUGE difference when you run Enigma:
Run an anti-spyware program like ad-aware (free - www.lavasoft-usa.com)
Make sure nothing else is running in the background.
Be sure your drivers are current for your audio and video cards.
BE SURE TO SET YOUR AUDIO HARDWARE ACCELERATION TO "BASIC" or "NONE". THIS IS CRITICAL. Settings other than this will usually crash Enigma or cause very poor performance.

Actually EAST, I tried setting the sound acceleration to basic today, which caused ERT to quit to desktop everytime it was about to load any mission, with any username.
So if any of you experienceing this sort of EXIT, set the acceleration back to FULL.
My suggestions are for people having performance problems with their systems and using soundblaster cards (for the most part). In nearly all of our testing on problem systems, having a hardware accelleration setting of full caused serious problems.
Your experience may vary, be sure to try different audio accelleration settings if you are having performance problems - especially crashes to desktop.
