For EAST,
I have tried every fix that I have found in your tips, but cannot stop the skipping with practicaly every function. I sent my systems dxdiag to you a week ago today and have been anxiously waiting for a reply, are you back-logged or what ??
I love the game and it never crashes, but the skipping gets so bad that it is a nuisance.
I have replied to all dxdiag files I have received. Quite often they are sent under real names and not nics, so I can't say for shure what is up with yours. Did you have the AC97 audio system?
From the dxdiag, under audio description, my system states, SOUNDMAX DIGITAL AUDIO

I am (was) the one withe AC97 audio codec. Here's the thing that was East's advice which I have followed and I'd like to recommend to everybody facing the same c..p. What you need is a REAL soundcard, the damn codecs don't work, as they share the cycles with the CPU. Even the fastest and strongest system cannot cope with that demand by ERT. Spend a few bucks on nice Soundblaster Digital or whatever. However, the biggest threat is the RAM limit: you need to go well BEYOND those standard 256 MB. Once you upgrade like this and eliminate your codecs if any, you'll have a smoothly running Hollywood movie going on all the way, even through the toughest and hardest action, given your latest edition graphics card, that is. Once set up like this (with real generous RAM), you may also switch back the audio acceleration to FULL to ride through the full experience. Keeping it basic works relable anyway, so feel free to experiment a bit with all your video and audio settings.
There are still a couple of flaws around but I know that East and his crew are working on a patch anyway. Once you get running like this you won't get your hands of the whell or the deckmounts, I can tell you that right now !

I've sent in three DXDIAG files so far and apart from a 'thanks for sending it to us', I've not had a response.
I've now resorted to replacing my Radeon (64mb) video card with a Radeon 9700 128mb card and hope that will reduce my crashes - should get it Saturday.
If I do have failures I will of course send the DXDIAG in. 8)
