Ok guys........here is the latest intell from Pearl.
The "Okinawa 1945" server has been upgraded to 409b1m and they are now using the "LAL Okinawa" map produced by the AAA community which is available over at the AAA web site for DL. What we need as a Group to fly on this server as a minimum is to download and install the "LAL Okinawa" map download which I have currently and can send this to Bosti to be made readily available for the Groups Download, thats if you don't DL this from the AAA site first and then install into to your basic game folder.
The Okinawa 1945 server has notes that you need both the new LAL Okinawa download plus the LAL Hanger download to fly but not really. If you want to see all the new objects like Hangers and such, you can DL the Hanger mod but its not a show stopper. To fly, you just can DL the new "LAL Okinawa" map and direct that towards your IL-2 1946 game folder and its a pure self installation from there.
What you will find is a much nicer and improved map sheet with super terrain rendering, vegetation, enhanced airfield layout that looks awesome from up at altitude. I flew a recon in my Corsair to just check out the map and was very impressed with what I saw. After that initial sortie, I then flew a TBM with a standard Mk. 13 Torpedo from the deck of a static carrier and flew to target using the standard trim settings for the TBM and dropped my Torp far enough back to kill an enemy destroyer and then to RTB back home.
