From my own experience, so everything appears to work correctly I'm hoping it runs as smoothly for those who need a little help moving to the jabber area.

Download a Jabber client. The recommended client can be found here at Miranda .

The great thing about mirnada is that it also has Protocols for IRC, MSN, ICQ, AIM and soon Yahoo Messengers which is great for an all in one package and easy to setup when you first open the client.

Once you have the client running it should look like a basic ICQ layout. Icons run along the bottom showing various 'online/offline' status for each protocol

(MSN | JABBER | IRC | ICQ | AIM )

Along the top you have the Miranda logo and Status switching bar

\|/ Status

Setting Up Jabber for tides of war server

Click on the Miranda Icon \|/ and go down and select Options. This will open up a new window called Miranda IM Options.

Most of the Explorer type tabs shuld be open, but we shall concentrate on the one listed under Network. if its not already Expanded click the + and expand its view.

This will Open up a wav of options covering the IM applications from various sites. You want to click on the Jabber which should change the view on the Right Hand side to the Jabber Options.

You have two sections to this first is Jabber Second should be Expert.

Fill out the Jabber Fields according to how you want as an Example:

Jabber

Username: BlindSite

Password: problybeendonebefore

Resource: Miranda

[ ] Save Password Tick or Untick, depends on you.

Login Server: tidesofwar.net

Port: 5222

Expert Field

[x] Keep Connection Alive

User Directory: users.tidesofwar.net

--

Click on Apply and Register New User.

And now OK

you should be up and running on Jabber. One way to find out is on the main client window select status from the top, go into the Jabber section and click Online You should connect and get a welcome message from tidesofwar.net .

Adding yourself to the Tidesofwar userlist is simple ... crazy:

Click on the Miranda Icon \|/ and go down to Jabber > a submenu should appear, click on Agents.

The field Jabber Server Should read tidesofwar.net , If not fill it in ;) and click Browse

It should bring up a list of various Jabber addresses/protocols etc. The one you want to select is users.tidesofwar.net You should notice the Register button is now active, click on this and register for username listing.

That should be all.

The two main features you would use are the Find/Add Conacts under the Miranda Icon. Chat channels can be found under the Miranda Icon > Jabber > Multi-User Conference ... chat.tidesofwar.net Browse to show channels.

And thats has far as my beggining experience goes with setting up and working Jabber, Its really very easy :D

Good luck and hopefully we'll see some of you on the server.
