Oh, you mean the pocket battleship disabled at the Battle of River Plate by HMS Exeter, HMS Ajax, and HMNZS Achilles(sic). GO THE ALL BLACKS!!!!!!
Funny bit of Trivia, in the film about River Plate, one of the CLs was played by the INS Delhi, who in another life had been...
HMNZS ACHILLES!!!!!!!!!

The Admiral Graf Spee wasn't crippled when it fought the three English warships, in fact with her 6x11 inch guns she heavily damaged the Exeter while the Achilles and the Ajax's main armament (I think they had 5 or 6 inch guns) mainly bounced off the the Graf spees armour. She suffered some damage but was otherwise ready for battle and retreated to Montivideo.
Her captain made the mistake of believing that the RN had reinforcements (which did not arrive) outside montivideo and the captain scuttled his ship rather than have it captured by the British.

In addition to not wanting to have his crew die for nothing. I think I have more respect for him for that then preventing his ship from falling into enemy hands.

Well it wasnt really a mistake on his part, his Intel people informed him he was greatly outnumbered.
The Brits had done a really good job of leaking info out about a how many ships were waiting for him, they lied really well LOL
So once again the Intel community can be blamed for another FUBAR report.
Jolly good show old chaps!
