Yesterday, two random thoughts(Armed Merchantmen and LCGs) collided and created BPs in my minds eye. Bombardment Platforms are essentially huge barges carrying batteries of either heavy guns or rockets. Very useful in an imagined LFN invasion of Hawaii.

Knowing what I know about the ancient and now long dead Iron Wolves game that was the original ispiriation for Enigma. I have little doubt there will be shore batteries of some sort or another in the future. SBs became a big part of IW play on its relatively closely packed small map. In Enigma where battles will probably be more dispersed and widespread, local firepower will probably be on average less. Meaning that those SBs might just be even more important.

What I mean is, for example, is a motorized barge with a maximum speed of no more than 10-12 knots, with racks of hundreds of unguided HE rockets, fixed at an angle of 45 degrees, controlled by the AI. Its' defensive capabilities consist of a handful of 20mm AA guns and a pair of 4-inchers mounted in blast shields, one for'ard, the other aft. Its purpose is to bombard shore batteries, airfields, army bases, etc.

Sounds good. But first - we need some land ;)
