That is a reward mission for having finished #4. HOWEVER, there are bonuses for sinking the enemy ships that can result in citations and faster advancement.

Yea speaking of mission 4...I was patting myself for finally killing the first 2 DD's and wow outa nowhere swoops in 3 more...I cried...but love the challenge....Think I'll go try it again now

Yes , I played this often over again after getting thru. ( Many times also before I did ! )

When you destroy both the DDs you just have to survive a little while and avoid confronting any more ships , I believe , however , I was lucky once when I tried , and sunk 2 more , and a fifth damaged , (or sunk 5th also - no positive confirmation -it demanded too much concentration to also count the enemy casualties accurately )

The amazement just didnt let me even look at the log after !

More amazed tho when all six DDs were sunk in LFN 9 ( am I correct sub LFN 9 ?) when there are those 6 Barbarrossas . and 3 Alliances hunting a sub.

Even 1 of the Alliances survived , and I sunk the sub at the very end too !

(Never been able to repeat that feat , but did get one screenpic of that sub sinking and Alliance alongside on opposite beam , just managed to , with sufficient presence of mind , before all vanished ! )

Yes sometimes there seems luck , and sometimnes odds are great . but as Jesper ,I think , once made the point , it can be like that in real life .

I think it would be less satisfying if it was too easy , it's hard to get the balance exactly optimal .
