Anti-ship, anti-sub, magnetic, contact.

I don't know much about them but it would make for a potentially interesting addition to the game.

Hell yes! I've been hoping for some mines to play with. Subs and PT boats could really use these to great effect, slipping a mine in the path of an enemy by virtue of stealth or speed. Destroyers and DEs could also drop a few behind a friend;y convoy to ward off pursuers.

Mines are planned, but not for a bit...

I'd just love to load a sub up with mines, sneak into a harbor at night, and farm the bejeezus out of an enemy port.

Well that would mean a mine sweeper is necessary, otherwise you'd have to send in your cheaper ships to take the mines out crazy:

True. I'm really not sure if it's a good idea. With relatively poor detection measures, mines would make another 'lucky-unlucky' addition to the game and I'm afraid they would quickly make it to the top of 'frustrations' thread.

Mines would be good for a slow strategy, or a hide-seek game like Silent Hunter. Enigma's appeal is its dynamic, action-packed gameplay. I can't imagine serching for mines, assigning targets and evading incoming torps at the same time. At least not in multiplayer.
