Tides of War

I can't beat this mission for the life of me. I've tried going right at the destroyers and get blown away immediately. When I try moving away then coming at them with the rest of my friendlies I still get blown away. And just about 70% of the time I'll start the mission and get blown away by those freaking 15in shells from the Hood. How in the world do you beat this freaking mission? And I'm playing this mission on easy for gods sake!

edit: Just a note to anyone that reaches USN surface mission 10 without the Fletcher. Try doing the 10b mission first. I went into the 10 mission and did mission 10a first and was stuck with the destroyer before the Fletcher. After getting fed up with getting sunk all the time I did 10b and succeeded. To my surprise I was awarded the Fletcher DD. Hope this helps to anyone who has not got the Fletch yet.

I have yet to see anyone post any hints or helps regarding USN 10a. I have played the mission 103 times and have yet to make any headway. I have tried every conceivable variation without any success. Can anyone offer help? I was having fun until this mission. I did get through 10b and get the upgraded DD, but does that even make sense? I am about to retire the game and either go back to Fighting Steel or wait for Harpoon 4.....

Yea I can't even begin to beat 10(a) as a USN Submarine. I honestly don't know what to try anymore . I beat 10(8-) (quite easily, I dove down to 160 meters and was headed for the German BB and the mission was accomplished [kinda weird actually]) But 10(a) is impossible as far as I've seen :/

Considering you have to win 10a to play 10b, how did you do it?

I played 10(a) until I tore my hair out, gave up for the night, came back and was able to pick 10(a) OR 10(8-) to start. I too, am stuck in the DE instead of the Fletcher, and this may be the problem.

I need to make time to try it again

East, I clicked on 10b and it worked without me doing 10a first.

I still can't beat 10a tho and it won't let me advance to 11 without doing it :/.

You don't actually don't have to beat 10a to play 10b....At least not on my version.

PS 16 more unsuccessful attempts today sleepy:

East, maybe the game is flawed? I was able to pick 10b after trying 10a so many times. Beat 10b and got the Fletcher class and went back to 10a.
