Yes Display of Flags.

Display of flags by people expressing there pride in their country of origin while in America.

I believe that a law should be passed thats states NO other flag other than the flag of the United States Of America ( good Old Glory) should be displayed in a public display of "patriotism" or "pride" by anyone on American soil.

We have parades for ones country of origins pride and celebration like "the Puerto Rican Day Parade" and the "Polish day" parade etc etc. That is the day to fly your flag. I find it a disrespect to this country to see people flying huge flags on their cars etc etc of other countries.

furthermore if there is a flag of another country a USA flag of the same size or greater should be flown on top of it.

Speaking of flags, in one small city in Northern Indiana the American Flags

were hanging from the street lights - 5 were torched and burned during the

late evening of the 4th of July! They are looking for the perpetrators... I can

tell you what, the real citizens of that small town better not find them first.

65 people wrote in during the first half hour after the article appeared and no one had

trouble voicing their low opinions of the people who did this,

and their "right" to get no mercy from the courts on this one!

I hope they prosecute them to the full extent of state law - as we still have no

federal law in place for desecration of the flag. The American Legion has been

working to change this for several years. Maybe the time has come for this

to be back on the books! In the mean time, the American Legion has taken the

burnt flags and will dispose of those properly.

There it is again. Upblown, ugly national pride.

Hang ?em !!! Burn ?em !!!

Geez.....there are more flags than only the U.S.A-flag, even in your country. Your country is multi-cultural, what do you expect ?

Can anyone of you proud nationalists say, he/she has US- american roots ? If there is only one (apart from the indians), he/she may throw the 1st stone.

As an european example:

Recently there was the european soccer championship. In the semi-final Germany met Turkey. We have many turkish foreigners in our country and there is also racism on both sides.

On the day of the semi final, we saw hundreds and thousands cars on our streets, showing 2 flags. The turkish and the german one. The turkish people said, their hearts would be naturally with the turkish team but they don?t mind to lose. If Germany wins, their hearts would be with Germany in the final, because Germany is their 2nd homeland.

However, Germany won the semi-final. And being a born german myself, I can tell you it wasn?t deserved. The turkish had the better team and could?ve win the final. Germany had just luck and we lost the final vs. Spain.

Well, what I wanted to say: you guys should really slowly coming down from your high proud american horse. You all are America. Every single indian, afro-american, english, french, puerto ricano, italian, mexican, german, spanish....wherever yours roots may be.

You are dead wrong in your interpretation of what this thread says and its content.

your statement of "Hang Em Burn Em" implies that we are saying that. If you read Hunterdogs post where it mentions burning, he mentions a burning incident of American Flags in America. No trumped up fasle pride or empty words there. So perhaps you did not read or understand the content of his post?

Futball is the biggest most revered sport in the rest of the world so displaying your national pride for your countries team is great. I do not speak out against that.

I sport a little polish metallic flag and Italian flag on my vehicle. I also sport an American flag on my vehicle Which is bigger in size.

I started this post in reference to Flags that people fly over their cars mainly. I do not try to imply of removing ones pride in their heritage.

But for you to come in and change the implied meaning of the thread to just come in and tell us Americans to get off their High horse is insane. I suggest that you in fact are on a High Horse coming in and posting your statement despite the clear meaning of the posts here.

And here is the bigger picture. Yes America is made up all nationalities. But when you come to America you come via a passport or ( temporary permit to be in Country) just like all other countries. If your Visa or passport expires you are asked to leave. ( suppose to anyway) When you become a citizen of the US you must go through a test for some key historical and geographical elements. Then the final stage is when you get sworn in. In this swearing in you "pledge your allegiance" to the flag of the United States of America. You agree to defend it and its honor among other things. You are now American. The country which you chose to Live.

By flying a full size flag of your country of origin is in my opinion a disrespect to America to overly display another countries flag absent of an American flag.

I would cetainly not display an American flag in another country draped over the hood of a vehicle.

We are all Americans is right Tulla. Thats why we should be flying an American flag foremost if any!

If I want to be so proud of Italy and Poland to be displaying large size flags then I should be doing it in Italy or Poland.

Well Tula .

It seems I can throw a stone.

I am 1/2 cherokie Indian.1/2 english.

I have watched this country go from born and bred americans,

to non born non bred us citizens.

I have seen people who have never worked a day in this country

come here and get grants to start a business and buy a house,

While I was denied any help or loans because I was born here.

Then to see them fly their countries flag in their yard,

and on their car, and bumper stickers that display how much they love

their own country, Is a slap in the face to all born and bred americans.

If they love their own country so much why are they here?

If your going to live here and take advantage of all the USA has to offer they should show some respect.

Thats the main issue here I believe.

"Patriotism is proud of a country's virtues and eager to correct its deficiencies; it also acknowledges the legitimate patriotism of other countries, with their own specific virtues. The pride of nationalism, however, trumpets its country's virtues and denies its deficiencies, while it is contemptuous toward the virtues of other countries. It wants to be, and proclaims itself to be, "the greatest," but greatness is not required of a country; only goodness is."

I don?t think, I got your post in the wrong context m8. I don?t undestand how can it hurt your feelings and how it can be disrepectfull towards your country, when foreigners showing foreign flags in your country. You are either very sensitive or it is a shade of racism already.

The united states of america shows its flags all over the world in many foreign countries. Unwanted..... do you care ?

P.S. and what?s about the bigger flag ? Is it somehow related to virility in any shade or form ? Bigger, better, best, greatest....errr.......
