Tides of War

The Fighting Black Sheep went into this match with hopes of pulling out a win. Unfortunately their hopes where dashed when USHA came on strong with of all of there top ace pilots. Flying for USHA was:

Kid, Action, Inferno SHOGUN, Dobie, Redneck, Stoneface and Born.

BSS had the following Pilots in Action:

JoKeR, Talon, Zarn, Warwolfsw, Packers, Coldfire, Top_Gun, and Jonny.

I don't really know where it all went wrong, When I tried to hold a team meeting after the match was over with everyone decided to leave. So all I can give you is my version of what happened.

FIRST HALF:

USHA was HOME TEAM with 6 SU in LA 7's and 2 GB in Spit XIV's.

BSS was VISITING TEAM with 8 GE with all BF-109's

BSS: 65 Kills *** 76 Deaths ** 0 Team Kills ** 0 Crashes ** 27 Ratio ** 5 1st Kill Points = team ratio 32

USHA: 76 Kills *** 76 Deaths ** 0 Team Kills ** 0 Crashes ** 41 Ratio ** 0 1st Kill Points = team ratio 41 = 1 team point 1st 1/2 win

SECOND HALF USHA

USHA used 8 GE BF-109's

BSS Had 2 SU LA'7 and 6 GB Spit XIV's and IX's

BSS: 39 Kills *** 99 Deaths ** 6 Team Kills** 1 Crash ** 2 Ratio 0 First Kill = Team Ratio 2

USHA: 96 Kills *** 40 Deaths ** 2 Team Kills ** 1 Crash ** 75 Ratio ** 5 1st Kill Points = team ratio = 80 = 1 Team Ratio Point

Total Ratio Points:

USHA 121 Team Raito Points

BSS 43 Team Ratio Points USHA gets 1 more team point for overall ratio win for and over all team win of 3 points BSS 0

From my point of view, the problem was two major things. One, not enough people really understood the game plan. This comes from not showing up for practice. Todays practice was bad due to technical problems giving us a late start. The game plan we used should of worked as good as it did last week when we went up against TKFM. However USHA chose to come right at us both times. This was problematic for us because we did not have this happen when we flew against TKFM. Our plan should of been worked on a little more so now MAYBE some people will start showing up for PRACTICE more often. When you don't have everyone working on the same page things happen. We did a fairly good job with Zoom and BOOM. Our lack of "GOOD" communication is still haunting us.

When we moved over in the second half, we tried something a little different than our the projected game plan because we put 2 pilots in LA's and 6 in the GB planes. Our game plane went into effect and got throw out as soon as we saw the USHA GE plane coming right at us. As I stated in practice on Tuesday night if this was to happen to us then we all fold in towards each other and group up. The SU planes we had probably should of went right at the GE planes to try to keep them away from us. However the USHA GE plane came off the base in 2 groups 1 group went North East towards our Eastern Wing and the other USHA went after the Northern Wing. The communication was not there. and we just flew around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off. No one that I could see where working as wing teams. I think that this hurt us a lot. Anyway, thats my point of view. Others who flew today are encourgaged to make a post, since you didn't want to stay around for the team meeting afterwards.

i apologize for not making it to the team meeting i accidentaly got myself kicked from the server, but i think the problem was we needed more practice on GB and SU. me and Pack tried to wing up as much as possible but we always died. we need to practice. young guns will be up and running next weekend practice is at 5pm EST saturday

I am guilty hands down for not sticking around for the meeting and I have no excuss. The first round of the friendly went well in my opinion. We used our split up join together move pretty well I think but Im not a stratigist either. This round was a personal best for me with 9 kills and 13 deaths. There was a lot of communication or it seemed that in the first round ( voicing who was where, who was on who that kind of thing). The second round started ok but than we got pinned and couldnt get out for a while. The communication seemed to quite down a lot during this part. This round was a devistateding blow to our squad and a personal worst for me (16 deaths and only two kills). What I noticed was USHA was always close together and when one was attacked one would usally swoop in kill the attacker like clock work. With out trying to step out of bounds because I am not a good player or commander this is what I would suggest:

1) Trying to fly in pack formations to disencourage attacks.

2) When some one is distroyed they wait for a wingman to leave the base safty in numbers kind of thing.

3) Have a course (flying school) for less experenced players (like me) so I dont cost BSS so many points in the future.

I will agree all the way. I still want the Practice for young guns on Sat at 5pm EST but i wont be there for two weeks. srry but i have stuff goin on. ill try to come on when possible. good work Warwolfsw

hi all, thought I'd add my thoughts on last nights friendly match with USHA.

First appologies for not hanging round after but It wasn't communicated that there would be a debrief and practically everyone had logged out of TS so I left too.

Second, I felt given the quality of the opposition and the fact that they wanted payback for the last time we played them, I thought we did ok especially first half. We have to get some perspective here. These teams are miles ahead of us in terms of their teamwork skills. Individually I think we have some excellent pilots but flying together we have got to learn to talk up the game. I thought we were ok boom and zooming but got hopelessly pinned against the GE planes second half. We then stopped communicating and flew as individual pilots again, basically getting picked off by USHA pilots hunting in packs.

Third, why can't we seem to wing up with the nearest pilot on take off? Its simple, speak to each other!! Let someone know your winging with them, what you can see, call out targets, situational awareness info. I agree with warwolfsw here, always stick together in a fight, there's safety in numbers.

Lastly, I can't stress enough that this is a TEAM GAME. We will NOT win matches as long as we have a mentality of I'm a good pilot and I work best when flying and doing my own thing. Yes individually someone may be the "Ace" with a good ratio but the team fails. All the best teams in any activity win by using their heads and they communicate. We need to practice comms over and over until second nature.

Overall, I enjoyed last night and love the experience of being in the thick of the action with all of you guys. There is a sense of belonging and commitment to each other that is vitally important when creating team spirit. I really don't think there is that much wrong with us apart from continuing to work on organisation and comms.

I think that all of you got a good handle on situation. Good Job! I agree with all the points made by these pilots. Flying with the nearest pilot to you as your next wingman is always the best idea. This is why I have stressed in the past about flying together. You might not see something that your wingman does. If you are ever notice the TS pilots when flying in the teams arena I doesn't matter who they fly with because they all fly well together and they know what there wingman is going to do.

They use very effective communication which allows then to fly in a loose formation. sometime they fly almost 10,000 feet apart but when one TS pilot attacks the other pilot (wingman) will be there to clean up and / or cover the attacking pilots. This is what we have to learn to do. It's not going to happen over night and it probably won't happen over the next year. It's only going to happen with more and more practice together. As long as we stick together and keep going, we will get better and better. We will win a couple of the matches coming up in UKAAC 2 squad if we keep at it and keep practicing. Its going to take your dedication in order to do it.

Pick yourself a wingman that you can fly with on a regular basis, when you do so also take other members with you if you see them flying and work on stuff together. Open up a practice arena. Fly together and against each other. Switch on and off with different pilots till all know what the other is going to do. When we do this we will be practicing the way the top teams do. We have to get know how and what each of our other pilots is going to do just by instinct. When we are able to do this we won't have any competition.

The Basics of Air Combat teams whether it be real life or in fiction play like our beloved Air Attack is never leave your wingman. Is if you are to never leave your wingman then that means you should have one to begin with. I'm really disappointed to know that you of all people Top_Gun did not understand this. This is kind of shocking to me.

Go watch the movie TOPGUN again. It's very prevalent in that movie of what happens when Maverick goes for a kill and leaves his wingman to fight alone.

I had no idea we were going to have a meeting because it was VERY quiet for a few minutes. And since nothing was going on and I was hungry I left to go eat. I saw a few attempts at winging but sometimes people would become confused and not have any idea of what to do. I personally believe that I didnt do AWFUL in both halfs but in the second I didnt do all that great either. I actually looked back a few times and to found Zarn coming in right behind me to wing up with the only other guy near him. What he says is correct and some of us, like me for example, don't concentrate much on back up we worry about just getting in and getting a kill and end up getting killed ourselves. USHA isnt a group to look up to IMHO. I saw on several occasions where they had up to 5 guys on one of ours. Thats a waste of manpower. Also when I attack you may hear me say "In on this guy...nevermind I'm on this one." Thats because I fly 'dynamically'. I dont fix on one guy and let every other opportunity wiz by. One way to solve this I think is that instead of one diving and another staying up, both should dive with the wingman right on the leader's butt. That way you see who he FIRES at so that makes any doubts go away and you know for sure who is the target and so you also fire. Another thing that may stop some of us from helping is the simple idea of "kill-stealing". Some people, I'm not sure if any of you do, get aggrevated if some one swoops in and takes a kill even if it's his teammate that does the swoop and grab. Well I found that now my words are becoming jumbled up so I will stop typing.

In short, I left cuz I thought the day was over, we need to wing up, don't do EVERYTHING another squad does(only the smart stuff), practice winging in Teams arenas instead of a practice with no target, and remember that this is a team game and there is no "kill stealing" so if u get the chance FIRE!
