How Many Pilots Do We Need At A Match

We need up to 10 pilots for every match. Why you ask when at most we fly 6 on average?

Answer:

1) Best laid plans of mouse and man sometimes go asunder. What if pilots that have signed up .. can't make it because their power is out, internet down, family problems and so forth? What if a pilot gets booted and can't get back in? We need to have backup pilots ready to go on US base. Also, we want to 'try' and alternate the new pilots each half so they get some experience .. this is an investment in the future and this experience .. can only be attained by flying in a real match .. i.e live fire.

2) Because if the opposition show up with more pilots, we can fly more.

3) Because a good showing is a moral booster to the whole squad!! Lord knows we need cheerleaders :)

Who will sit and who will fly?

Answer:

1) Best pilots fly so long as a certain ratio is maintained. If we can only fly 6 pilots then the 5 best or most senior BSS pilots will fly. One new or less experienced pilot will fly as the sixth man in each half. The six'th man might be rotated for the 2nd half with another new pilot. If we have an 8 man situation, we may be able to fly 2 rookies or less experienced pilot. IN ALL CASES THE CO/XO MAKE THE CALL. NEVER ARGUE THAT CALL AT MATCH TIME.. if you have a beef . take it up later... as we just can't put any more pressure on the XO/CO at match time .. they have a lot to do and keep track of.

If necessary the CO of the Black Sheep will 'sit' in order to give that new pilot his chance to get that 'experience' needed. What we cannot do is have the XO or a 'caller' sit .. this will hurt the whole squad .. can't do that :)
