This event is set for this SATURDAY at 1:pm pdt ... 4:pm edt and 20:00 gmt

2 teams us and su

all planes avail,

objective fly through each bases runway all the way around back home.

however teams race opposite directions.

su starts by flying through the back of the gb runway where the planes park.

and continue through the back to front on all other bases to get home.

us does the same but in a countrclockwise direction. through the front of the bases

There is no turning to fight. the planes fly by each other h2h guns.

and keep going for home.

deck killing is ok and shooting from the deck is ok also,, this is all out mayem if you have enough pilots

points are

1 point for every pilot that makes it home. (If you can)

SU comes home from the back of their base

US comes home from home from the front of the us base.

no turning to dogfight

100 ft alt limit going through bases (aa is on)

you must run the full lenth of the base.

300 max alt limit between bases.

map limit is the four bases..

this is a timed event non stop keep taking off till half is over.

1 hr 2 halves 5 min break at half.

all planes avail, pick your plane wisly.

I flown in this Event yesterday under a unknown tag. I notice a few things. First thing I notice, It's was very difficult to score. And I seen a few people turning their planes. Even seen one guy turn his plane completely around to killed someone. And I seen a lot of UK and German pilots in this event because of the time of day it was hosted. That a good thing. I was on TAA team speak with some of them because I was invited to join in. Was this event fun for me ? I am still debating that because I really dont get into racing planes around the map. I am more into team killing events like Fun Friday, Last Man Standing, and really love EQUAL POWER event!

My Report:

I"m not a big fan of just racing around a grid .. however this didn't seem simply raching to me. The objective was to go around the field .. flying under AA at each base .. and get home and land. If you can get completly around .. and land .. you score for you team.

Sounds simply eh?

Well .. its not. It's really hard to get completly around the 4 camp grid.

Su Takes off and flys clockwise.

USA takes off and fly counter clockwise.

You cant turn the plane.

You must fly under the AA at each camp.

The only way you can engange the enemy is head to head.

Alt limit 10k (really alt limit is not needed because you have to fly under AA, but OK)

As you try and get back to your home you will come fact to face with the opposing team .. head to head .. cannons and guns blasting .. you get hurt .. but keep going for the team ... you get slight winged by AA perhaps .. but you keep going .. training a long line of smoke.. you half way around. Just hang on now.. avoid H to H .. you hope.

Frankly.. its objective oriented .. and it is fun. More team work would really get better results but the game is so new most pilots have not figured out the 'strategies' as yet

I saw a couple of problems that were NOT clear in the rules .. so maybe the rules need spiff -up a little or claification.

1) Planes could sit on the run way in teams .. and in opposite directions simply to act like AA guns .. thus shooting the opposing team while on the ground. This didn't seem like the spirite of things.. but was legal.

2) When planes were racing around the grid .. I noticed that some opposing piliots .. would .. AVOID my H to H. Now this is legal .. but the way they avoided was so close to a vilolation of the rule .. IE. no turning to engage. Well they turned to avoid. The turn they made was not 360 .. but 300! So some fine tuning may be needed here. They never fired their guns .. but turned so much that it was a vilolation I feel.

3) You have to fly thru the base and under AA .. but it was not clear if you had to fly the entire runway area or not. Some of the opposing force was shortcuttng the run way every pass. They would cut hard left around the oil tanks .. never really going to the end of the runway. This may have been legal, I didn't do it because I thought you had to keep your plane on over the runway .. start to finish. Was not sure on this. They would start down the middle of the runway on entrance .. but exit short and tight around the oil barrels. This would give US advantage on exit of every base, and SU disadvantage ..

This game has really FUN potential I had a blast and found myself fixated on 'getting around' to make a score Which I never managed to do .. lol.

Awesome report TBAR! Dont feel too bad, I only scored once, and that was in the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter I was score less. I tried defense and offense, but failed at both.

Yes I do need to clear up the rules.

Yes you do need go all the way through the bases end to end .

Looking at my rules that wasnt clear.

I did announce no turning to dogfight many times.

but there is allways somone who cant follow the rules.

Trying to ref this by myself was not easy.

I had a plane on us and su base. 2 pcs on my desk..

but cannot watch other bases.

I also had my rules mixed up with 2 events in one..

I have no idea how that happened.

alt limit is not 10 k

but 300 ft beetween bases.

50 ft through the bases.

This i fixed.

rules are now correct.

But remember these are fun events

and If you take them to hart you will go nuts

I flew the first demo derby this past Saturday. I had a blast even though I never made a complete lap. I did see some people turning to fight as I was shot down from behind by one pilot in particular a couple of times. I didn't think it was fair, but thats the way some people feel they have to play, so be it. All in all I think this game will be a keeper in my book. I look forward to flying more.

In addition who ever the runway police are, please take note of all the others that have runwayed me in the past and nothing was ever said to them that I'm aware of. I do it one time and get told I'm going to get booted and annonomously at that?? Where's the justice in this world?? lol Lady justice is blind, but I think its only in one eye!

If that's the way they want to play it, fine, but they'll have play without me.

Are you refering to runwaying

other pilots in demo derby?

because it is allowed in demo derby.

shooting from runway is also allowed.

So if somone Told you otherwise

They misunderstood the rules..

And If I get killed on the runway

I dont care because I am the ref and sitting in harms way.

Runwaying is not allowed in any public arena.. ie FFA and Teams. Otherwise runwaying is address in each 'event' or 'league event'. In almost every case .. runwaying is never allowed.

In the case of the 'Backyard brawl" it is part of the event

RE Demo Derby:

Alt limit is just not needed in the rules. When the rules state you need to fly UNDER AA .. that is really all that is needed. Its really hard to get to alt and not get killed... and interesting for those that try when you can't turn. Diving down with speed to get under that AA would be a lot of skill .. and if they got that kind of skill .. whoooa, let'em try

No turns greater than 180 degree's. That is the simplist rule I think, but just has hard to monitor as "no turning". No turns greater than 180 degrees from stright line base to base once the initial 90 degree turn is made. No turns greater than 180 degrees to engage an opponent. Get the wording right .. it might be a better rule than simply 'no turning'.

Great Game that just needs some refinement and idea expansion. Keep it going.
