Microphone Problem

I've installed the Enigma: Risng Tide demo and everything works except for the microphone.  The microphone is connected properly to the sound card, volume is set properly, mute is off and the microphone tests OK using Microsoft's Sound Recorder.  However, after going into Enigma's "Preferences" and setting the microphone to "ON" in the Voice Command section, an error message pops up next to the "Test" button.  The error is "Microphone Init Failed".  The error repeates when I click on the "Test" button.  I've read the other posts but haven't found a solution yet.  One of the posts did suggest loading Enigma's Microphone sound but I don't know how that is done.
you need the enigma sapi, which is not in the demos, you may download it here
I downloaded the RAR file, extracted EnigmaSAPI.msi and executed it.  The install completed without errors.  I went into the Voice Command to test the microphone.  The error, "Microphone Init failed" no longer appears and is replaced with, "Press button to test microphone".  I presssed the "Test" button and spoke the requested words, "Say It's a different world".  The test failed with the message, "Microphone test timed out".  I verified that the microphone was on by touching the microphone receiver and hearing the resulting noise on the speakers.  Does the EnigmaSAPI software that was installed needs to be configured?  If so, how would I do that?  The Install said that the software would be installed in the C:\Programs\EnigmaSAPI directory but no such directory exists.  I did a search for "EnigmaSAPI" but the directory was not found so it must be installed under a different name.
you need to go to control panel->speech
click on 'audio input' and choose your sound cards wave device.
There were two selections, "Use preferred audio input device"  and "Use this audio imput device".  I selected the latter and highlighted "SoundMax Digital Audio" which was the only audio input device available to me.  The driver for this is up-to-date.  I'm still getting the "Microphone test timed out" message even though the microphone is operational.  I tried the microphone test a number of times in a closed room to shut out any other sounds but still no go.
try and install the demo again, now that you have the sAPI installed, maybe that will fix it :)
Un-installed and re-installed but the microphone test fails repeatedly.  My version of the demo is ver, 2,0,2 if that makes a difference.
Have you gone through the setup excersize in the MS speech on ur control panel yet? the bit where you have to read a load of paragraphs to your computer (and feel a propper fool doing it)
That might help? (took me ages to twig that myself!)

:D    Problem solved but I had to uninstall the current audio driver and disable it.  I then installed a Turtle Beach Montego II card with the latest driver, un-installed the enigma demo and re-installed it.  The problem was an el-cheapo integrated sound.  Thanks for your help.
