Tides of War

I tried to use the tutorial that timetraveler gave and that is now a sticky, but whenever I try to edit any of the files, a message comes up saying:"this file has attributes that make it read-only, please give another name" so I try to move the originals into another folder, and save my edited versions, then the game doesn't work. Im really interested in making maps, but I need to be able to get them to work.

BTW: What kind of coding does it use in the dropdown text below the saveneme in notepad/wordpad? or does it make a difference?

Make sure your files aren't write protected / read-only, right click with Windows explorer on them and verify.

If you want to manually write missions (without the UI tool from timetraveller), you have to use notepad or any other regular text editor, wordpad is a no no.

I go to properties, uncheck read-only, then edit it, and save, followed through all the instructions, and my game errors when it starts. By changing the files the game errors, so how am I supposed to do this?... Read-only is unchecked and the game works fine. Im gona try to unpack the singleplayer EZV file, then put my map in under tactical, I'll reply whether it works or not.

Well it works preatty well, but I have to replace an existig mission. I still need help though.
