Tides of War

I just decided to reinstall Enigma today onto my HD for the first time in 18 months.

The install goes fine, I installed the gold patch without incident, the game loads properly all the way to the main menu. But as soon as I select any menu item I immediately CTD with a "Palette Loading Error" Message box.

I have updated all of my drivers, lowered hardware audio accel. in dxdiag, have made sure that the system display setting match the game settings, but I have no dice in getting past this error.

Has anybody else experienced this?

i had that problem for awile to. my problem was the vertual memory was to low from all the games and crap i had installed. but once i uninstalled about 20000 magabites worth of crap i never played, it started working better.

I have a P4 2.7Ghz processor with a gig of PC800 Rambus Memory

NVidia GeForce 6600GT

SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound card

DirectX 9.0c is installed

All with most current drivers, and the normal assortment of drives and the like.

I have encountered this error with every configuration of the video card, and every setting of hardware audio acceleration by DirectX.

To me it would seem like there would be a problem with how the game is interfacing with the video card, but I have set the video card to every likely default visual setting the game would use. 800x600 in 16 and 32-bit, 1024x768 16 and 32 bit, 1280x1024 16 and 32 bit. All without success...

I am out of ideas at the moment...

The Pallette Loading error means you are trying to run it from a copied/illegal disk or a disk image.

Enigma requires the original disk.

I have the original disk in, but with the gold update it doesn't like my reg code...it sits at the disc check for 10 minutes then errors out, so I reverted to a no-CD deal...since that is the issue anybody know what I can do?

I just tried the dreamcatcher versions, they work fine as long as I don't do the gold patch...
