Having a little trouble controlling these boats especially at high speed.
When approaching a target and wanting to line up on it by using the voice command of "hard to port" or "starboard" the boat turns very fast and i can't say "hold coarse" fast enough to get aligned. I've tried the "set rudder xx port/starboard" but these don't work all the time or gives me a hard to port/starboard situation a lot of the time.
Also, i seem to only be able to line up on a target using the spectator view. This doesn't allow me to use the tactical screens. When using the bridge view i can't "find" my target.
What is the best way to control this ship?

"GILLIGAN!"
keyboard:
"D" key centers the rudder
"S" key moves rudder to port (turn left) - tap it, it's incremental
"F" key moves rudder to starboard (turn right)
"F1-F3" shows you all of this....

I use the tactical screen until I get close.. then I go to external and use keyboard rudder commands with voice to fire torps.
When in tactical, just right click a waypoint, and adjust by right clicking a new waypoint to get rid of the old... or say "hold course" to clear all waypoints.
When in external, I use keyboard rudder commands to give a roughly proper course.. then because I am constantly looking around with the camera, I might just use voice to give this command "set rudder 001 port/starboard".
Setting rudder one degree at a time helps a lot. I can watch from camera view as my ptboat slowly follows a curved approach that finally lines up the torps.. doesnt matter whether the ptboat has torps that launch forward or slightly off to the sides, because I am able to watch more carefully with the camera using a combination of keyboard/voice commands with my hands on the mouse-cam.

I was so used to using the voice commands that it totally escaped me to use the keyboard keys.
This brings up another potential user "error". Should I be using the keyboard to control my other ships as well? Suppose I could. Just liked using the voice. Makes you feel like you are simulating being a "real" captain.
Thank you East (skipper) and Maxim.

there is a voice command to change the rudder as little as 1 degree, i think its "rudder port one degree" (one, two..... one zero, etc) and similiar for starboard

Keyboard is the way to go, also make sure your switch to spectator view when your closing in on target (no need for tactical when you make your torp run) and line it up a little above and behind your boat. This makes it much easier to control and gives you good aiming perspective on torp run.
Tactical is for Sissy's in Big boats.
Give me a PT boat and a target. avoiding those big splashes all around my boat as I close in is all the tactical I can handle

Just imagine your S D F keys are a tiller .
( It's quite easy to imagine all sorts of stuff . )
Visualize your keyboard is the helm .
( This is the important thing . )
Lean over to appropriate side when changing course .
( This helps . )
In small boats , always wear sunglasses .
( Don't forget to attach a cord around back of head , you have very little chance of retrieving anything which falls into the water . )
If you do drop your keys , tools or anything metal , it's a good idea to have a very long piece of string ,on board , with magnet .
( Make sure you don't because you don't have much chance even that way . )
