Simple as giving her a custom name and logo to put on the old iron sides...
The immersion of having a crew in SH3 is huge. Somethign you guys should really look at...

Ah yes, nothing would make me happier than to paint my submarine bright red, and smack a custom logo on the side. That would be awesome.
