Sink The Hood

Hey folks!

Just my two (dozen) cents on things i'd like to see in the next chapter >:(

Firstly i'm going to strike the common thread and mention the ships. Assuming the interview I read on CGN is correct, you're adding further Battleships to the game as well as aircraft carriers. If this really is your intent, you should seriously consider attempting to add in at least one class of light cruiser per faction. Even in chapter 1, the gap between the destroyers and the Hood/Pr.Edward was obvious - roughly a 10km difference in weapons range. During a major fleet engagement, cruisers in the 10-12,000 ton range would be vital to act as a screening force for the larger ships - especially carriers!

The carriers are a very large grey area for the fans right now. I'm going to assume that a new interface will be provided to allow the commander of a carrier the option to put together a strike force and launch them against a target of choice? If this is roughly accurate, I would suggest adding a picture-in-picture window to allow the carrier commander to view the planes in action otherwise he's going to get very bored, very fast as a carrier would typically be over the horizon from an enemy task force relying on scout planes and/or escort ships for targeting data.

On the subject of planes, i'm assuming that you aren't allowing direct player control of an aircraft - i'd humbly suggest you never program that ability, or at the very least leave it out of multiplay. As a rule I tend to avoid online multiplay games because you always tend to come across a group of fools out to spoil everyone else's day, and i can just see it now - weeks of playing to gain enough rank to command a nice big carrier and BOOM, one of your own pilots kamikaze's your flight deck for a laugh and suddenly your carrier is on its way to the bottom of the Atlantic <_<

Down to the more nitty gritty stuff. I don't know why, but my system has no problem running the game until the Hood missions. Any time the Hood model is in visual range it cripples my system - I have to look away from the Hood to continue with the mission. I've no idea why, but there it is. I'm supposing it's just down to the size/complexity of the model, just hoping it's tweaked for C2!

An addition i'd like to see would be surface wake for fast moving subs. I'm not sure of the exact figures, but even modern single screw subs can leave a surface wake from 200ft down. More accurate ammo stock would, in my opinion, enhance gameplay too. Enigma subs are carrying roughly 4 times the amount of torpedoes that they should have - perhaps cutting this in half, for surface ship ammo too, would add more strategic thinking to the game. At the minute ammo consumption is not even a consideration while playing.

Well... thats me for now! It's 1:30am and i'm outta steam, but i'm sure i'll think of more things to bug you with 8-)

If you write a synopsis of your current system hardware when you refer to problems, and possibly keep that info in your signature file which can show on selected posts you'd like to enable it for, then other readers can relate and respond to your pc problems when you look at the hood. Tech support may even make a useful suggestion, but without knowing how good or how poor your system is at the moment.. it may remain a mystery.

As far as kamikazee pilots go, search this forum for all the pros and cons discussions surrounding friendly fire, rank, promotions, etc..

Tesseraction has been long involved in chatting about balancing the game in many ways.
