Tides of War

Hi, anyone any everyone, well I have a few questions that my manual doesn't answer.

1. Im like on mission 2 for ships or surface for the USA, I did the training for 2 days and I suck and sinking subs. Any info or tips would be great, they don't kill me I am very tactical in this sense, but cannot place depth charges very well.

2. The year I belive is 1936 or 37 is my boat supposed to have sonar? All I have is 500, 1k, 4k, 8k, radio. Then their are the buttons on the side i can click on for the automatic guns and such on the left hand side. What is the third one down that after I click to normal view it auto goes off?

If I am supposed to have sonar does it have anything to do with not installing my mic option for voice control?

my book shows it is the very bottom button to click on in the tactical display.

I have another game like this and I like the fact you can ping and your sonar will tell you how deep a sub is this is pretty much a guessing and waiting game. The graphics are alot better on this game but though the other is 3 years older it seems to be a more tactical game.

maybe its just me, it'll probably get better when I learn sonar or something.

I will put the name of the game at a later date because i beat it long ago and don't quite remember the name for anyone interested.

It was really neat it displayed your torpeado speed and distance from target so you could figure out an approximate time to hit target given targets speed.

Sinking subs isnt that easy, there are a lot of tips here on how to, but most important practice practice practice

The 3rd icon next to the "auto guns" is "auto evasive" or "battlestations" when you activate that your ship will automatically try to evade torpedoes.

There is no "sonar" or "radar" in ERT the tac' screen is a mix of both, it doesnt tell you how deep the subs are that is all "guess work" but you can find several tips here on how the AI subs behaives. Good hunting.

oh and no there is no sonar either even if you were using a mike, however the mike is really a "must" it adds more fun to the game and makes it a lot easier.

If you can't get them with depth charges remember subs must surface eventually. If you can stick close to them with the tactical map and have enough patience you can blast them when they come up for air.

Ive been trying my damndest to sink these fritzs' but this is really difficult. Is there a way to determine how deep they are? Im playing on easy so I seen that hard makes it hard for the computer too.

Most games you put it on hard and the AI is harder to kill in games but you are still the same.

I ve been trying on the 500k radar to see what works some people say the rings but I think I will try marking the little green squares try 1 off then 2 and 3 so on and so forth.

Another question is their away to limit the # of charges dropped in the water? I only get 60 and my 1st drop is with 15 or so and then it drops 10 or 12 by the time i'd sink 1 sub i'll be out.

As far as waiting for these SOB's to surface they seem to go down within a matter of seconds.

I'll keep trying but any help would be greatly recommended.

I don't know if it has changed or not (I use subs not surface) but I think you can set the charges to the deepest setting and if they hit the sub on the way down they explode. This means you dont need to worry how deep they are. I heard this will change for multiplayer but if it still works you can at least pass the mission while you get the hang of the controls and etc. (As it won't be in MP I kinda consider it cheating)

If someone can confirm whether you can still do this it would help.

You can adjust how many DC you drop on the dial. (Should be easy to find, near the tac while setting depth) If you don't have the gold patch, you'll need it. I prefer half racks. Depending on speed, I typically run 100 yards. Practice a few an you'll get the hand of it.
