No, not to me. That's a very good question. I'd like to know exactly what you have to do to increase your rank. I've been stuck on Commander with three whatchamacallits for I don't know how long. I went through all of the USN surface and sub missions so now I'm going to start going into the other factions.
Btw, glad to be able to get rid of those other patches and just load the gold version. Works great and is much easier to load. =)

I found a list of ranks and promotions in the localization.txt file. Looks like these are it, I'm guessing. Promotions are below the ranks list. Not sure why there are more ranks than promotions. Maybe someone else knows.

I'd guess because you can only get to Captain in Chapter One.
