Is Sub Reverse Speed That Slow?

Started using the subs instead of the surface missions recently and felt like the back flank speed was pretty darn slow. Can you only get one or two knots max.? Makes it pretty tough trying to get away from those pesky corvetts. Think you're backing up fast and then realize you're just sitting there like a dead duck.

One thing I thought would have been nice back then is to have some type of mines you could release that would float up and take care of the surface ships trying to nail you.

The opposite of a depth charge ey? I could sink a few ships with those but I don't think they ever existed. The term alternate history does come to mind though. Perhaps in the game they could be invented by a strange goat type of man. ;)

After the patches the reverse sub speed is sometimes ZERO , or takes a LONG time to reach a couple of knots .

Makes it a LOT lot harder in some C. Missions especially .

If this wasn't meant to be so , why didn't anybody notice that I wonder .

( Visibility is poor even at short range too , as someone aleady noted , incredible that wasn't spotted ! )

All subs have a slow reverse speed because of the propeler design.
