Tides of War

I was playing Enigma the other day, sinking a convoy of tankers and such, with two friendly submarines. Out of nowhere I here that bell, for incoming torpedos, and 7 are comin from friendly units behind me. All 7 are aimed at a tanker in front of me, but i watched from an above view as they cruised, only a few meters from my sub, I actually did have to make a slight turn to aviod getting hit. Now my question is....If i'm engaging a target, and i am between the target and friendly units, why are they shooting? That doesnt seem to make any sense. Is this one of those glitches in the game? Any answers are appreciated

They likely tried to aim around you, but you manouvered in a direction they didnt calculate with.

Or simply they thought oh he prolly dives when he hears the torpedo bell

Also remember they dont know your depth, as you dont know theirs..

You would do the same if one of your ally subs were in your way of a target.

I've had this happen to me before, many times in fact. One time I was in a destroyer, and ally destroyers were all around me. We were going after some enemies when I heard the bell. I quickly went to spectator view and saw that my allies were just shooting the enemies and I was just in the way. I bet it happens when you shoot torpedoes and your allies are in the way too. It is something that actually makes the game more realistic, torpedo friendly fire does happen.

Also if you are playing a mission with a torpedo boat and there are alot of allies near you, bells would be going off like crazy! You just need to watch out.

Yeah I wouldn't mind the friendly fire in a huge battle, but it was just me, my two allies, and a tanker. I just figured, since i was closest that I'd be the one to finish the tanker off, and they'd just chill. Whatver they didnt get me anyway.

well you know it has always been a competition in war, who gets the most tonnage... something to brag about back on the taverns (if they'd made it back)...

Whats happened is you were in a time warp and you had Multiplayer going instead of single play, its easy to do happens to me all the time

Anyway the subs were other REAL players and frankly they didn care one bit you were there, they wanted the kills PERIOD, and if you died because of it they didnt care!

you will find this happening all the time in Multiplayer

~post clarification ....... This post is not for real its a joke....... however having said that in the real world of multiplay you had better watch your 6 because FF will be off at all times hehehe~

True , Roque . It will be one thing to watch out for in multi .

This is also a realistic feature in the single player .

One of the things we can learn to try to avoid in multi. , and it won't be possible to avoid completely .

An odd torpedo will be worth firing , when the moment of opportunity presents , for example , even if there is a risk , and maybe that is realistic too .

That happened to me too but as I soon realized they were picking a destroyer off my back. So I just opened her up to flank and lured the DD right to my three allies who let him have it. Just stay below 15 M :!!:
