Will Enigma Be Like Bf1942?

Hmm, I got to thinking the other day. With all these ships and eventually planes that can be player controlled, eventually it would turn out to be like BF1942 only with an all naval idea on it.

For instance, say you are controlling a plane and get shot down, now wouldn't it be interesting if the player could eject and send a help becon and be picked up by a submarine in the area? Of course they would have to work on the game to make it so that the subs could carry passengers. (Sorta reminds me of IW when a person could observe from a ship)

Anyways, I was just rambling on about this, thought someone may be interested.

Cheers!

its allready planned that other ships can pick up survivors from wrecks / sinking ships, and the passenger will get an observing role, till he/she gets a new ship, or some like that...

Sounds awesome!

So eventually, we can sneak spies into the enemy's port by cruising on into their harbors and planting our spies (MUHAHAHA!)

Hmm, so if the ship that picked up the survivor gets sunk.........does that mean the player along with the other passenger dies? or just has to be picked up again? LOL

Hmm, oh yeah, if there is a ranking system in the game.........if a person with a higher rank is picked up by a person with lower rank, will the person with the higher rank control the ship?

Just curious.....

Well if he aint picked up, he just have to be a good swimmer ;)

If there isnt anyone near to pick him up, I would assume that he dies with his crew.

It was originally planned that if you pick up a captain of higher rank he could chose to take control over your ship, but Im not sure if thats still the plan.

That sounds great, hmm yeah I think some players might get mad if a higher rank does take over their ship, but hey, this is war and sometimes it has to be done.

The captain of a vessel has the ultimate command and control of the shitp, regardless of anyone being aboard with higher rank. The Higher ranking officer may try to take command, but it'd be hard, the crews mostly trust their current leader. I was in the US Navy FYI...heh

Maybe a Corvette Captain picks up a Battleship Captain...

and if you were in the service you would know that you hvae to obey orders ;)

Good topic for debate. crazy:

I think everyone would agree that if one officer outranks another, generally the senior ranking officer would take charge. However, there is professional courtesy involved.

I don't know about the Navy, but I do know about the Air Force and Army. If you are the Pilot In Command, then it is your aircraft. It doesn't matter if another officer aboard outranks you. All customs and courtesies will surely be given. An OH-58 pilot who gets shot down, and then is picked up by a Blackhawk, isn't going to take command of that aircraft just because he is senior to the guys(or gals) that picked him up. Not to mention the fact that the OH-58 driver probably doesn't know the aircraft limitations and procedures of the Blackhawk.

Along the lines of gaming...... I am not sure it would go over well if you spent many a night slugging it out on the open ocean to climb ranks, and then one day you pick up some poor bastard who lost his ship. Next thing you know he is hell bent on revenge..... 'cause hey, it isn't really his ship. Then what happens to your ratings?

I personally would rather escort him to the nearest available vessel that is in need of a commander rather than sit back and watch what he does to MY ship and crew.

I will admit, maybe he is a super commander, and ended up taking on 8-10 DDs by himself, and managed to get all but the last one. Unless I was there to witness it, I really wouldn't know. And if I were there, then I would probably wait until it was safe to stop and pick them up, lest I lose my ship while sitting engines all stop as I become the good samaritan. Life boats and jackets would be dispensed in passing to help increase the chances of survival of course.

I don't believe my word is gospel, it's just my opinion. buxton:

No one would ever get picked up if they risked losing command of the ship! People get reassigned a new ship at port after dying anyway.

I say pick them up and keep them as observers, or hey how about getting that admiral you just saved maning those AA guns!
