I really hope that aircraft in E:RT will not be as lethal to ships and subs as they were in reality, or would you like a massively multiplayer naval sim where everyone flies around in planes and no one uses ships because they don't stand a chance against aircraft?

In the end players will ask for weapons like the air dropped FX 1400 guided bomb... No, thanks.

Planes are a nice addition, but in the end E:RT must remain a naval simulation and not a navalized BF 1942.

My two cents...

I'm with you on that Ulsterman. Scout planes will be one of the first flyable aircraft followed by the flying boats. There will be aircraft that can be flown off of the carriers as well, but there are restrictions as to make and model. Our hope is to have them nicely balanced - mostly through scarcity and a real-life flight model. If you are a real pilot you will be deadly to subs and some ships, if you are a BF1942 pilot, you will need rescuing guaranteed.

Hmm... During my time in the German army ($&!&?%$& conscription) I served as an AA gunner (Gepard AA Tank, twin 35mm AA guns).

Will this probably increase my chances of taking down aircraft? :D;)

more than likely. You will be a lot more familiar with the way to lead a target than the average fisherman....

i also agree with Ulsterman its a naval sim it would be good to have some scout planes like swordfish for the LFN and maybe sunderlends with collipsable wings so they can be carried by battleships that would be impressive.

East said they're working on a feature that allows battleships to launch scout planes. :D
