Uk Patch B, Some Observations And Questions

Hello again. I have got back into playing Enigma this week after a few months of other games. I installed the UK B patch today and have discovered the following changes which I think are a step backwards on the original game. I would welcome any opinions/fixes...
1) When in a submarine viewing the world through the periscope/tactical, surface ships seem much farther away from you than they actually are compared to the original game. Is this a change, or am I going mad? it is as though the magnification of the periscope has been altered ???
2) Torpedoes seem to travel MUCH faster than they used to, and in my opinion unrealistically fast! There is also almost no visible surface wake from the torpedo which reduces the enjoyment of watching the torpedo heading for the target. Can this be set back to how it was?
Apart from this I still like Enigma, but I may well be tempted to revert to patch A...

I agree with 1 and for 2 you can set the speed of your torpedoes.

Well the problem occurs also when you want to evad torps, you can bearly see them...

2) The torpedo speeds had been set artificially slow (still not sure why our programmers did that). We have set them to the historical speeds. The wakes are another deal altogether. You see more wake the closer to the surface they are, otherwise the wakes come substantially further behind due to the speeds. This will be addressed. I agree and don't like the change. Incidently, the programmers responsible for making the design decisions that weren't theres to make are no longer with us. This should prevent dumb*ss things like this from showing up in the future.
1) The visible range adjusts based on weather. The zoom wasn't changed on the scope, but the viewing angle may have been adjusted - changes perceived distance. We found previously that the perceived range was not accurate (compared to RL).
We will be starting a thread this coming week soliciting suggestions (and complaints) from players who are playing the latest version.

btw the torps on german ships ( the barbarossa at least ) are set to 27 knots with a range of 15,000 m, well, it's very improbable we'll hit an enemy that far out, so you can set it all the way upto 44 knots!

Hmm, thanks for that East. Just to clarify the magnification point, what I mean is that when playing the new version I could be looking at a destroyer heading straight for me through the periscope and while on 1x magnification the ship appears to be a good 200-300 metres away, however I get the message that the ship destroyed me with his hull. Switching to the spectator view I can see that the ship is indeeed right on top of me, but it looked miles away through the scope.

I will give this some investigation this week and give you more detailed answers.
