do you have to use such huge letters? hehe
What soundcard do you have?
do this:
click start->settings->control panel->system, then click on "device manager" then click the + next to "sound, video and game......" then right click on your soundcard device and click on the driver tab that would tell you what driver version youre using.

I went to Dell site and they didn't have this one card (?) listed. maybe I should try the Creative site next eh?

BTW . . . my next project is to try to make a "game boot" to limit all the crap that loads starving the memory when I want to play ERT.
Anyone got a clue to share with Win XP is there a way to make boot that loads game essential items only??

use CT's auto update feature, remember to read the instructions carefully.
You can customize XP to use different boot profiles, but it wont prevent XP from loading a ton of unneeded crap.
The only thing you need to do when you want to play is simply turn off your AntiVirus, TrojanGuard and SpyWare sweepers.

I'll do that for sure.
Do you think that putting in another 128 or 512mb of ram would help too? I seem to see a HUGE amout of time taken loading the game and some driver chatter trying to catch up with the game.

well more ram never hurts, the more the better as the wise men says. Adding 128 doesnt make sense tho 512 would, how much do oyu have now? and plese stop using size=super huge

Most games today require at least 1 gig ram for optimal performance. Although I'm starting to think it is now more than that. As Jesper said, more ram never hurts.

Currently 128mb Ram. I could go to 1g but would that help with the 1.7mhz processor and the related 2 year old computer bus speeds?

I use GeForce FX 5700LE 128MB...excellent card and i updated with the latest drivers out. I have had no probs even playing Pasific Assult.
