Speaking of signed box versions, I saw one being auctioned on Ebay a few weeks ago.

I bought the 2.1.3 version at a local retail store, really enjoy playing the game, made Captain on both Surface and Sub.
I purchased the Gold Version recently and found that the screen was so bright that I was having difficulty seeing so I bought a second Enigma Gold (figuring the first one may of been a fluke) and have the same problem.
What a bummer, can't see ships in the distance, can't really track the torps because the water is all white, that blends in with the sky which also blends in with the almost white ships, then when you finally do get close enough to make somethig out it actually looks like your in the middle of a sand storm!!!
I've got sun spots in front of my eyes from playing the game and straining to see.
What a big disappointment this game turn out to be.
I really enjoy the game if someone could please tell me how to get the screens on the Gold edition to compare with that of the 2.1.3 I would be greatful, please help keep from going blind.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You are probably having a technical issue with your graphics hardware or drivers.
email support@warfleet.net with your dxdiag report.
go to start / run / and type in "DXDIAG".

DXDIAG
Been there, done that at the start of loading the game.
Everything works fine in this area.
Guess I'll try contacting warfleet.
Thanks.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
When I first started version 2.1.3 and experienced problems I found this fourm through warfleet.
Reading the different groups has helped me to get through the different difficulty levels on Campaigns with the above version. What is great is the game is challenging and yes sometimes very frustrating, however if it weren't as challenging as it is then it would just be another dime a dozen "shoot em up".
I have 3 desktops and 2 laptops all running XP, hopefully I can get the Gold Edition to work on one of the other 2 desktops, I am trying to avoid having to go out and purchase a high end gaming computer just to get Gold to work.
Once again thank you.

Well I purchased a new computer with all the bells and whistles, $3,000.00 worth and installed ERT Gold and low and behold have the exact same problems as before.
Finally out of sheer frustration of not being able to see with things being so bright, light grey ships on a white sky background, water SO white you can't see the torps at all or where these ghost ships meet the water line, and to keep from going BLIND playing the game I just uninstalled the game, reinstalled the 2.1.3 version.
I also upgraded the 2.1.3 edition to the Gold Edition, played one game and uninstalled it. Same problems.
With the Gold Ediion there are some extremely BRILLIANT features but for one to have sun spots from playing a game is totally assinine.
I now know it isn't my computers as I have now seen the game on other peoples computers and it is the game itself so there is no more need to tweak computers on this end.
Hopefully in the future the team/s that design these games will take this fact into consideration.
I truely love the ERT and spend hours playing the game on 2.1.3
Possibly the Team (East) or whoever would like to put a poll together and see if anyone else has experienced the same problems, this may be helpful to the designers.
I hope this post isn't taken out of context as my intentions are well meaning.
Thanks.

It's not that way on our machines (mostly ATI driven)
That sounds like an NVIdia digital vibrance setting or an out of whack gamma. Usually a white sky and white ocean means a videocard that isn't doing onboard T&L (8.1dx spec).
