True Commerce Raiding

Sounds like a pretty decent idea to me. Most of the instances of merchant raiding ended up in the merchants being sunk, although I'm sure that if you could convince a ship to heave to and found useful stuff aboard... well hey, war is war.
If there were an economics portion to the game, I think it would be best if it were just an automaton running behind the scenes. The idea of rationing supplies -- not being able to fire that full 8-shot spread every time because you only have 12 fish -- appeals to my romantic side.
Devoting a player or two to run the economic side of things seems like it would be a little tedious... not to mention that this is a combat-oriented game to begin with.
Ponder complete... well, mostly.
