This is a good thread. I reckon that without the kind of "free if you drive a freighter" style approach, ERT multi could end up being battles between subs, and destroyers, or battleship to battleship fights, unless freighters are bots.

It would certainly make for better co-op play having "free" humans driving tankers and other cannon-fodder.

The ability to have human controlled "objectives" would be very beneficial to the game as no matter how good the AI is it can only perform a certain number of ways whereas a human player is complelty irrational and could do anything and this provides a much more realistic combat situation as the real life merchants are piloted by humans (unless there was some robot invasion i missed).

The reason i call the merchants "objectives" is that they are going to be most likely the centre piece of the naval engagements with all sides either trying to defend, sink or capture the merchant traffic.

Has anyone posting here played Fighter Aces?

At any one time, a few hundred to a couple thousand players are playing the same map. There are no human controlled objectives. It is all about defending and attacking those objectives that do use intense AI.

Now, I would hate to have to spend several hours travelling to an objective, but this kind of system would be a beaut for Enigma. Capture and hold territory. Capture airbases. Land troops. Execute Naval Gunfire Support in the landings. Subs patrol sea lanes keeping surface groups from reaching objectives.

Tankers for free will draw in players . Who wants to always drive a tanker ?

Will there be ways of paying other than card tho ' ?

If someone doesn't have even the single player installed , will they be able to play at all ?

Probably not, at least not initially.

Definately. The MP client will be a free download.

A very good question. It would be an idea as it would allow the non paying plaers to experience life under the sea aswell as above it and may convince them they want to pay.
