I was hoping to check back in this afternoon to see a report on the match. What happened??

Appologies for not posting earlier, had some Dad's taxi duties to do straight after the match. First Born has been to Euro Disney Paris, and had to pick em up ....

Ok - Match report....

First up, we lost 8 - 0. That's the bad news outta the way.

Now the good stuff. Seven made it for training. We split the time between practics scrambles and a few practice rounds... Time well spent I think.

We fielded eight v eight for the match, a great turn out. I didn't keep accurate stats for the rounds, but first round they had 4 or 5 pilots in the air at the end, second round it was 3 or 4, third round 2 or 3 and fourth round I believe it was one on one at the end. So you see we were improving.

In truth that was the nearest we got to a round win. Second half was pretty much the same, they usualy had 2-4 pilots up, although all were hit, and many hit bad. being an optimist I would like to think things were closer than these stats suggest.

Tactics. They came at us straight of the runway. Mostly in 109's, and a couple of LA7's. Second half, they would send one pilot up high. We followed the plan very well. If I recall right, there was only one takeoff crash. And as practised we had high and low flight and when they came at us we turned into them. Worked well, but I think we need more practice fighting with so many aircraft in the air.

As for our tactics, I am drawn. I believe we have worked out a good way to counter the 'rush', and we deploy it well. But I would have liked to be able to try something else, vary it, mix it up. But that's not to take anything away from how we performed today. Communications were very good, we flew the plan very well, low wing flew through them well and hit them hard, they cam straight at us and the action was all low level so we didn't get into zoom and boom and perhaps using some LA7's would have helped, but we would have been worthy of a couple of rounds.

Warships are an excellent squad with very capable pilots who have flown together for some time, and we took it to them.

Attending pilots for match vs. WARSHIPS -

talon, tbar, burton, zarn, jonny, coldfire, rew, tango. I'm not sure, but i believe that i was the only one who didnt make it to the practice, all other attending pilots did.

Tbar was happy.. that is a good report.

Pilots did what they were supposed to do, reacted as they should. BSS basic plan was good, executed well .. and excellent follow thru..

You just can't say enough about the skills of War Ships .. can't judge our performance other than outmatched by skills. They did NOT have an ez win as the score might indicate .. they could NOT slack about.

Somebody screwed up and combined the post I made with this one about the sign ups and it made have to go back and write everything over a second time. Tbar must be playing with the buttons again. lol

That's ok guys it all looks good. They are the number one team right now and Madman even stated in his post that it was a lot closer match than the score seems to make it. For Madman to say something like that means we have made a really big improvement.

If someone has the films of the match, I would like to get a copy for future reference. I would be willing to bet that the one pilot that they sent high was Madman. I wish I could of been there because, I would of been all over him. Every time I get a chance to get a go at him I take it, because I'm getting better flying against him. Now instead of him killing me every time , I get some good licks on him too. When I do he'll run to avoid be shot down by me or call for help.

Please check the CO / XO board Burton I have another idea to try and deploy.

It was a good match.........we did it very well.

I think we got problems with the number of pilots fighting together.......sometimes I was confused about who was closer or farther........and what was my team's colour........lol.

Tough sqd but not invincible.........we just need some more practice together m8s.

I want to say something, after deep thinking of last night match, i think the main reason they won is because all of their pilots used La-7 and came right toward us at low alt every round, if you notice after each round there is too many of their pilots stayed alive at the end of each round, around 4 or 5 pilots at least. La-7 cannons make more damage than K4 and need a much fewer hits to finish the kill and also La-7 turns better than K4.

K4's we used need more bullets and can't turnfight good, I think we could have won if we all swtiched to La-7 so we are equal or we all group in one very high wing and keep climbing to the corner of the map then loop over at them, this way giving us an ALT advantage and some of them might stall and will be an easy kill specially if we kept zooming and booming. i might be wrong those are my thoughts.

Big Time Wrong.. wrong.. wrong.

K9's have better cannons.. much stronger. remember you can't just hold the trigger down.. burp the guns. Its three machine gun then 1 cannon.. but you can burn up the cannons real fast and be shooting only machine gun fire if you don't 'burp the guns.

La7's have good guns, but not as good. Those aircraft can in fact outturn.. but don't get a turn fight with an LA7 .. we all know that.

WS did NOT use ALL LA7's .. they used a combination of k9's and LA7's.

Next week you are going to face the same kind of team. USHA will most likely use a combination of LA7's and K4.

Tbar is absolutely correct that K4 is a better plane over all. That is why it is the most dominant plane in the game.

Coldfire, you of all people should know not to worry about that LA7's turning ability. Yes it can turn, but it won't climb as fast or high. So, were you turn fighting in order to find this out??? AhhhHAAAAA! Caught you! No TURN fights.

This is true for me. In the first 2-3 rounds while I watched for any high fighters coming my way(and there usually was atleast 1) I would be hit from below by Derf and taken out in the very beginning because I hadn't noticed he would blow through the rest of the team then nose straight up to hit me in the belly. Of course I realized what was going on and made killing Derf a priority lol. I was then able to move to the next one and attempt to take out another before being shot down by the group of high fighters that I was originally looking for. I don't think Derf got another kill on me the whole match afterwards.
