Was originally by an English poet... In Australia we say it on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to remember those that died during the war. (Regardless of country)

We used to do similar every Monday. Raise the flag and sing the national anthem. I don't think schools do this type of thing nowadays.

I think they dont because its not politically correct (total rubbish) you should be brought up to be proud of your own coutry.....i certainlly am i always watch HRH Queen Elizabeth II at 3PM every Xmas too.

......And whoever represents your Country in any manner ie (sport) should no the words to the national anthem and if the dont sing while its being played should not be aloud to represent their country. :!!: :!!:

A few things , after reading this thread again .

.

As Reaves mentioned ; Once a week . Flag and anthem.

As Cdr AGL said ; Sould know the words .

.

A ' diplomatic ' topic this one , strong feelings are concerned about it !

.

If it is possible , I detest even more each day the nonsense of 'political correctness ' by the way , and did I ever mention I hate political correctness ? LOL

.

The words written off Baltimore are inspiring . ( Yes I know them ! )

Honoring a flag is a unifying act of participation etc .

.

I am republican ( small letter ) .NOT CAP ! lol.

My home port is near where the founder of the US navy came from , and who remained a Scot , only given US nationality as well , after his death ,posthumously decreed by Congress .

This country NEVER had a Queen Elizabeth in the 1500s .

The second one was never crowned of it either , because the Archbishop didn't use the correct words at the coronation and in any case could never have been 2 " the second " !

I can more easily accept that a flag is honored rather than some portrait of anyone too !

The ' regard ' for the 'office ' of The President Of The United States more than the person who holds it , is as it should be , instead of the regard the person of Mr/Mrs Whoever happens to be a prime minister of whoever happens to be born in a palace rather than the ' office ' of PM

A pity that the words of a certain anthem are not acceptable either - it is not a bad tune ! lol.

.

Rememberance Sunday is the nearest to the 11th of 11th at 11.00

Originally the ' Armistice ' of 1914 .

One thing which has been preserved despite the political correct brigade's efforts.

.

Just as well that the US vessels I like better , and probably will join tha faction - after saying this , the ' Royalists ' will not be pleased !

They have a good sub tho .

Of course I can't support my distant cousin Der Keizer either and apologise in advance to him about sinking his subs and other craft.

Entschuldigen Sie , liebe Wilhelm aber ich kan nicht anders . !

Dont know yet if my other cousin the Sultan is still in power , but a republic there would be better too !

.

Thus I will have to join Jones's navy it seems , but I don't feel so bad as he is a recent ancestor and local lad .

Just as long as the strategic plans include the liberation of the countries of Britain and an end to all monarchy !

I'd go along with an expansion of the states too .

.

Anticipation of comments from other factions , and polemic prelude to the ' hostilities ' much hoped for and long awaited Multiplayer

Political Correctness is a terrible thing. What was started in good intentions, have now put labels on every human on the face of the Earth, and torn us apart even more. But if you try and stop what has been started, you will be labeled a racist!!(Go figure, another label!)

As for Rememberance. Being from Indianapolis, Indiana here in the U.S. of A. I have 3 times a year that I stop to pause and remember, and hope we all learn from the past.

The 3 are:

7th December 1941

30th July 1945 (The sinking of CA-35 USS Indianapolis)

11th September 2001

It was best said from two different writers that these words were written so long ago, but hold true today:
Thoses who forget the past, Are doomed to repeat it.
It is because of those people who want the world to forget and believe in Political Correctness, are the ones that make the rest of us suffer when the world does forget. Which is why 9/11 happened.
The needs of the many, out weigh the needs of the few. Or the One.
The above quote is the reason we are fighting for freedom for others that cannot rise up against their own Govenment that is killing them. The people that want us to forget and believe in Political Correctness say there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction found. But we did find it. The biggest W.M.D. the world has seen since WWII....Sadam Hussain. He is one step down from Hitler on the Killing of his own people and surround countries.

So please, while you are remembering your fallen countrymen: Don't forget how it happened, and the reason it was for.

WE MUST NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!

Please quote me, print this, and E-Mail this to everyone you know. So that way they will never forget.
