Excellent good. I can just see it now: A Yankee convoy steaming through an island chain. Then, from around a headland, comes a swarm of MTBs, which fall upon the helpless convoy like wolves. Oh, the carnage would be exquisite.

Yep. That's one of the most promising aspects of land in the game. Using it as cover was a common tactic that had lots of success. I'm all for this idea!

Ulsterman, thank you for the correction,
Everyone else,
Yes, running a gauntlet of South Pacific Islands in search of American convoys and subs does actually sound like fun, but if you think land will provide visual cover, will it provide radar cover as well (it should). If this is the case, scout planes will become critical, and night-fighting and night-blockade running might become huge components of MP.
just thoughts...

Land adds all kinds of neat little twist..
I can just see it now..........a submarine getting chased by DE or DD and evading them and luring them into a trap set up on the other side of land.........12 other submarines waiting on the unsuspecting DD or DE.........what fun!
A duck in a shooting gallery........and if 12 submarines can't hit 1 DD or DE....something is really wrong LOL
What I would be extremelyl interested in is the fact that you could do night operations like the Germans did in "Operation Drumbeat"
Planting spies on land......or military personal(aka seal teams) to destroy certian objectives......
and of course you can always sneak into Tokyo Bay and do a "Destination Tokyo" run LOL
WHAT FUN

Those are all good examples. The area of the "Slot" in the Solomons that saw so much action, and contained "Iron Bottom Sound" in WWII was all defined by the surrounding islands. PT boat would be especially dangerous in areas like this. If everything is open ocean, things would eventually come to seem the same after a while.

Land adds a very distinct and colorful aspect to the game what if yu are a lone destroyer and need cover from an enemy battlegroup that is chasing yu yu could just pull into a lagoon or natural port and hide waiting for them to pass by
otherwise the battlegroup would catch up and BOOM yur dead
plus yu could build up a port like St Nazaire with AA guns shore batteries Searchlights spotting towers drydocks shipyards factories and supply depots and keep building it up then there would not only be competition from other vessels but from ports and airbases and Artillery batterys thus more things to kill and more fun to watch them blow up

also be nice if your sinking or slightly sinking it gives you a chance to skuttle the boat on land and bail the hell out

Thats what id do. Stay at sea in a BB and blast the hell out of anything that moves on shore and if im going to sink ram the boat ashose asfar as i can and get the hell out.

It could also be like the D-Day invasion, where landing craft race to shore under fire, and large battleships and cruisers stay back and blast the hell out of the shore guns! It would be fun!
