Tides of War

Just what I think might happen, haven't read anything but up to the churchill letter on the game's history page. Tell me how wrong or right I am please?

Now I don't claim to be an expert (and I'm sure they will be by to correct me if I'm wrong ) but this is how I see the world in Enigma time:

Russia is an independant power currently either at war with or just clashing with Germany in Poland. (It's in one of the papers in Enigma) Germany meanwhile controls most of Europe (think Europe early WWII plus Britain), and probably a good chunk of Africa as well. Canada is split into factions either supporting the LFN (which probably maintains a garrison, and there was also mention of shipyards I believe??) or supporting the IGE (Imperial German Empire), tensions are mounting which could lead to a civil war in Canada.

The US has taken control of some key British colonies in the Pacific, and is keeping a close eye on Canada but isn't prepared to sacrifice their holdings and possibly military bases around the world by commiting the amount of troops nessecary to occupy Canada (remember we are a huge country, and if anything an American invasion would unite the IGE and LFN supporters against a common enemy.) They also control the Panama canal which will make any LFN assualt against the IGN extremly difficult, or even supplying LFN bases like Gibralter and Malta.

The LFN meanwhile is in probably the worst position of all. They have lost key military bases in the Pacific and are relying heavily on Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Gibralter and Malta (and possibly India, wasn't really mentioned in the game). The Rock and Malta are isolated and difficult to resupply from the main LFN forces, if Germany makes a concentrated effort they could easily shut down these key operating facilities. Also Spain might sieze this chance to retake Gibralter (which they believe is theirs by rights) and then use it to control trade/convoy routes (and make a hefty profit on the side).

So the way I see it is that we will see the RNE operating heavily in the Pacific (since this is their new stomping grounds) with limited Atlantic raiding (subs Desrons MTB's) from Canada, Gibralter, and Malta untill Malta and the Rock are shut down. Malta will be the first to go since Germany controls the Med, Gibralter could stand if the LFN can get regular convoys to it from Canada. However I think that the LFN will concentrate on beating the US in the Pacific and retaking Singapore (sp?) and possibly gaining access to the Panama Canal.

Germany meanwhile will be chomping at the bit to crush the Yanks in the Atlantic after what happened at Scapa Flow. Depending on how long the LFN can maintain a force in the Atlantic (and whether or not they can use the fabled North West Passage) will determine whether or not we see the IGN and the RNE going at it much in the early stages, however I think Germany will concentrate on the US first.

The US is in a bit of a pickle, they have to fight a two front war, and run the risk of getting ground up as the other two powers fight the US so they can start fighting each other in earnest. (Think of someone who is in the middle of two boxers trying to get at each other)But the US is doing well in the way of resources and has massive manufacturing capacity.

As it stands right now, it's hard to say who will win, or if anyone can win for that matter, I personally can't think of many three way wars in history, so we can't really say what the outcome will be.

I think that the USA will be crushed between the LFN and IG when you think how mighty Japan was in 1939 the USA would not have enough ships to cover its coastline.

IF Russia is still under the Tsar then they will be frendly to the LFN as the Tsar was the couson of George the V so Russia could be part of the LFN and be biulding a mass army and attack Germany they have the power and resources to especily after the end of WW1 and any harsh treatys imposed on them, because of it's size it could easly apper friendly to IG in the west but be massing with japan china ect in the east.

Also all of the UKs ex colonies will be part of the LFN infact i would not take the LFN much to push the USA out of the pacific as all it has is a few islands.

In the Adlantic it would be hard for IG to stop the LFN operating as there will be countrys that resent germany and her power and let the LFN use there shores as bases of operation Greenland Norway and Morrocco.

the USA is sandwiched on all fronts north south east and west. she cannot fight the LFN in canada and the pacific Mexico and IG.

IG they have the problem that people will resist them France, UK, Russia ect

the LFN are just spred but with Russia they do cover 1/3 of the northen globe and they are much like the UN with none of there members having colonies they can incorage uprising in US and IG colonies the US can't give ireland what the UK can't if you give the republicans what they want then the lolyists will cause truble

You forget, America began developing naval capabilities in earnest - initially to sell to the warring nations, later to give her the ability to defend against potential German presence in Canada, South America, etc.

Don't forget what happened to Singapore as a result of the attempt to join the LFN and the creation of the China Seas Trading Federation...oh yeah, we haven't released that info yet...

The League of Nations was the precursor to the UN, and formed after WWI:

The mission, as stated in the Covenant, was "to promote international co-operation and to achieve international peace and security." The Treaty entered into force on January 10, 1920. The League was ineffective in stopping the military aggression that led to World War II. It ceased its work during the war and dissolved on April 18, 1946. The United Nations assumed its assets and carries on much of its work. In E:RT, the LFN is basically the Allied Powers that didn't get conquered by Germany (The remnants of the British Commonwealth and Japan). As the remaining "free" Powers, they realize that they must hang together, or they'll surely hang separately! (quote from Ben Franklin.)

And also historically, the US did not get involved in the League of Nations, just like in Enigma. However, if memory serves, the League of Nations fell apart...
