  1. Hello Pilot's Due to a great recommend from a friend of WT, I'm arrived now with BoS. At the beginning, I was a bit afraid of it, because I thought WT has be ruined my experience due to the fact BoS is a real simulator and WT is just more arcade style, Not great flight and damage models and historical more than incorrect. So ok, before I start, lets read and watch videos and ask for some tips for the basic setup in the config, like axis setup and dead zones. After few hours of reading and watching videos (I'm very strict at this point, its important for me to understand which kind of problems over has, and how I can be fix a issue before I have the same problem.) It was on the time to select a plane to learn it, and here it began for me. Taxiing, you never do it in War Thunder and I has no idea how to do it and which is important to know. So this was the moment I was totally afraid, because I saw many videos where the people has problems and do circles on the taxiway. Again time for Wikipedia and tutorial videos about taxiing. And the understand how it works with the tail wheel when it's unlocked and locked, was a great moment for me. At this point I started my first training's mission. Alone on my airfield, with no enemies. And after 3 times, I was able to taxi and take off. I take the BF109 F4 for the training, and i saw a great tutorial video where one explained how to land safely, he take the original manual guide to explain how to land a BF109. with 100% flaps and a angle of 60 up to 70 degrees, It's very easy, but of course not perfect, but I was able to land my plane without a damage, and still space for a simple touchdown and a take off. It was such a great moment for me, the first steps alone. Later I tried taxiing, take off, attacking some ground targets like a train, ships etc and fly back home. I never had such a great experience in War Thunder, and here it was just a training mission. At the moment I play a bit the campaign to get a better feeling for spotting, and a feeling for my plane, how to handle it in different altitudes and speeds. And here I have a little question, I think i have some little problems to spot enemies, a special far away. it don#t feel like 10 km, it feels like 5km or less before I can see them. Is their any tip how I can check or improve this? Thank you very much in advance at this point for your time and help. All in all, it's a great game, it it makes really fun, and the planes feel like plane, compared with WT it's the best improvement ever to play IL-2
  2. Dear Pilots, tank commander and captains of sea, I think it's fair enough when I share it in the forum. Due to the last patches, development questions and answers, I'm now at the point to say goodbye to the sim mode in WT. I have already bought IL2 - Battle of Stalingrad. the reason why I quit this mode in WT is really simple, it's not really a SIM mode, to give us a cockpit makes game not to a simulation game. There are so many things in EC sim mode which are complete miss placed and what ever the community say it will be ignored by Gaijin. AI hunters, they are always spawn on your 6 and higher than you. Too strong airfield defenses, mouse aim bomber gunships and really less peoples on servers. Our friends who want to play as allies have sometimes queue duration's from over 20 minutes ore more, just to play on a empty or bot filled server. last week I take a look into IL-2, the start is completely different, I must taxi to the runway and it feels like a plane not like these things in WT. Unfortunately the sim community shrinks more and more in WT due to the fact we are the last game mode which will be supported. My personal favorite is the complain of the Japanese ammunition in WT, the players created a new topic and gave the admins and mods some real data of the different types. The topic has now 16 pages, and the answer from Gajin was, they don't change anything here. Sorry but this is way too much for me to stay in this game mode. But this means not I stop playing WT, I'm sure I play further in RB with boats and tanks together. And of course I give training session for everyone who want to join the sim mode. For me it was a very nice start to became a small feeling for simulation in general. But for me it's not more than training sessions. And a big thanks to our community here to let me introduce this mode in our forum. And of course I take further looks for information in this mode and I will share it with you.
  3. This sounds interesting and may a good way to test new planes or tanks. Hopefully they will made a combined battle for it. I know this can be hard, they tested it already in a small event with Russian tanks. As usual a AI is not very clever and not very strong but in this kind of event it was really hard, because the AI have no other targets and your team is really out numbered. The next thing is is the map, you can't run away from it. And this makes the part really interesting

  5. Dear Pilot and Tank Commanders This is the last update for the graphic tweaks it's a summery posted by Fenris Wolf in the official War Thunder Forum. I have already tested the settings, I can confirm this is an improvement for spotting. So you will never see something here what i don#t tested before I share it to you guys. We all know, a bad experience can ruin our fun, and the time we have per day to play is not so much. Please keep in mind, this can be changed every time due to new updates of the graphic in War Thunder. Please leave a comment if anyone has problems to set it up correctly or when someone has a issue after changing the config file. Update summary on graphics settings, January 27th 2017 1) Several edits to config.blk file via text editor, after setting every graphics setting ingame to maximum, playing on 1080p. Find each values and edit them. Do not add additional ones: ... renderer3:t="dx11" ... driver:t="dx11" ... backgroundScale:r=1.6 (if you experience far away ground texture flickering, put Anisotropic Filtering to 8!) ... enemiesQuality:t="ultrahigh" ... rendinstDistMul:r=8.8 (increases rendering distance of static objects like fences in yards, for example) ... haze:b=no ... directx{ d3d9ex:b=yes maxaa:i=0 (avoid cheap AA with increased background scale, which is WT's properly scaling DSR!) } Save, close file, go to its properties and select "read only", confirm. 2) Disable FXAA in PostFX settings, it will only blur your picture and have aircraft blend into the background even more than AA. All Sharpness sliders to 0 bars. Colour correction to Contrast, for blacker black. Reflections enabled everywhere for halo and shades to 0.5, as it helps with reflecting surfaces like on aircrafts beneath you. Tone Mapping to default, unless you like enemy camoflage to be more effective. 3) If you have an NVIDIA card, get NVIDIA Inspector program. Start included program "profile inspector". Find "Texture Filtering", and force "Texture Filtering - Driver Controlled LOD Bias" to off. Then put "Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (DX)" to -1.500. Then "Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias" to Clamp. This will get of the morphing rocks for example: if you approach a landscape object like a rock from long range and come closer, on standard settings it would go through several LOD shifts, which could be irritating. Now the rock remains static even at super long range. Needs proper graphics card, a GTX1060 is recommended at least, as GTX9xx and earlier don't seem to be capable of it (I hope they are now, fingers crossed to NVIDIA). Enjoy WT now at higher details even at longer ranges - the way it's meant to be played.
  6. Of course every time, this is at least the minimum what I can do for our community. Due to the upcoming changes, I'm really sure this will be affect combined simulation battles as well. But mostly Enduring confrontation in my opinion. To explain it, enduring confrontation is a mode split up in 5 ranks for planes. And the players are a bit upset on this mode, small map rotations, mostly 2 maps, depending on your nation which are you joining in. Not many tasks to do, so you have an actual front line which has a set up of soft and hard targets, from howitzer up to tanks and pill boxes. One base per side which will be respawn on a different location if it's destroyed. And 3 Airfields per side, one front, one mid and one far behind the friendly line. The size of these maps are ok, but just one base is way to less. To get points is not the problem but we need something to do, sometimes you will fly over 20 minutes without a contact or actual task which can you do. But all in all it's great because you can every time leave and you will receive your points and lions. The duration goes from one hour or more before a round ends. You can respawn when someone killed you. Teamwork is way better compared to other modes. So as example, if a enemy plane is burning, no one will attack him anymore to steal the kill. If you need help and you ask for it, 90% of the time friendly players will give you coordinates where are they to help you.
  7. Dear Pilots Please keep in mind the ammunition can be quiet tricky some times, i saw these videos but a special for the incendiary ammunition where is one important part. It ignites only fuel tanks, so if the bullets hits material which is not able to burn you just make holes. I tested it with the Japanese 20mm cannons, I loaded the ground belt (Has mostly API - Armor Piercing Incendiary) but some planes are tricky to shoot them down. I fired a few bullets on a spitfire and only made a fuel leak on his plane. A Yer 2 was set on fire, but this plane has self sealing tanks, this means there is a rubber material inside the tanks which is shrinking if this material has contact with liquids. I prefer for my self high explosive rounds, so few shoots are enough to rip of a wing or necessary parts of the plane.

  10. Simulation is like a drug, you test it one time and at this point you will never do anything else. It's nice to hear you have some great efforts and fun in this mode. Don't worry If you don't bring planes inside. The combined simulation battles are the replacement for the old simulation history missions. It's makes a special fun if you have friends in tanks on the battlefield, so you can hold the sky free from enemy's and spot other tanks.

  13. Always a pleasure It's really nice when new players join the simulation part In my opinion the community is great. And you saw it yesterday, friendly fire is activated, no names, no tags and nearby no team kills. Of course sometimes it happens, but mostly you can see which one is a enemy and which one is a friend. if you are not sure, mark the enemy position on the map, and press T 4 - 2 when the radio message follow me pops up. A frinedly player will do the same and if the marker really close to your marked position you know it's a friend. Your both doing yesterday really well for your first sim game. For a experienced tanker, it will be the heaven, you can make a lot of lions and research points. Teamwork is the most important, so I have the feeling when someone tells me a enemy position for close air support, and I kill the target. I do something really useful. The same is for my teammates on the ground, I fever with them to win the battle. Because sometimes you cant really assist em from the sky.
  14. Thank you, can you imagine hot it was to sit back in my cockpit and fly? I feel never so free before in my life. But Navy is coming as well, so it starts again It was a really hard way to upgrade each tank, at this point a big thanks to all simulation tank commander. And at this side I want to share my last match, it was an impressive teamwork. Unfortunately the chat is not visible, but to describe what happens, I will write it quick down. At the first zone they ask me if I can wait for the Vulcan anti air tank to capture the zone together. At the second zone I saw a teammate in trouble, so I moved out of the zone, after the kill of the Shilka tank he asked me If I can pull him to the zone. The other guys covered us at this time. It was a friendly and respectful team. The replay goes 8 minutes in total, usual a match goes longer, but here it was very quick. Just for information, these icons and names for enemies etc are not visible during the game, first in the replay. if you guys want to see what I saw, set the camera option to 2 on top of the replay. It shows my perspective during the game. A special at the beginning where the bomber drops down this payload, I really want to see him ut he was already to high.
