How to Setup TeamSpeak 2.

Install and Basic Setup.

First you need to download TeamSpeak. A 6 MegaBytes file you can download from TeamSpeak. To install TeamSpeak simply execute (double click) on the ts2_client-*.exe file you just downloaded. It only takes a few seconds to install TeamSpeak, when it is done, exit the installer and open the application from the Desktop shortcut. Once you have opened TeamSpeak, click on the 'Settings' tab and then select 'Sound Input/Output Settings'.

The 'Output Volume' setting determines how loud the voice from other users will be in your speakers/headphones. Move the slider left to decrease and right to increase the volume till you have a satisfying result.

The 'Voice Send Method' setting for how you want TeamSpeak to recognize that you want to say something to the server. If you want to map a keybind then click on 'SET' and then click your desired key, you can choose any you want, but choose with care. Dont use a key that is used by other programs/games that you have running (ESCape and Arrow keys isnt a good choice).
If you prefer that TeamSpeak should react on voice, then simply activte the 'Voice Activation', but note that it will activate on any and all sounds that your microphone picks up, so if your wife, kids or mom talks then anyone on TeamSpeak can hear them. It's not good when you play a game, or listens to music with your speakers on, those sounds are also picked up. However the 'Voice Activation' is good if you wants to talk and type at the same time, (if you are writing in MS Word or on Tides Jabber, etc).
If you chose 'Voice Activation', you can select how loud you have to talk in order to have TeamSpeak recognize it. Move the slider in the direction you desire.

The 'Local Test' settings is for selecting the optimal codec for your connection. 'CELP5.1 Kbit' is good for most, even for dialup. For better quality use a faster codec. Remember that the higher quality, the more bandwidth is required. For broadband users we recommend using any of the 'Speedex' codecs. Use the test button to test you settings. If you hear a weird sound, that is OK, if it is too slow (like mumbling) try another codec.

The 'Activate Local Test Mode' Button is to test your settings, Adjust your settings while testing them to experience better TeamSpeak Sessions. The green led will be on when you're in test mode, or if your 'Voice Activation' is set too high. Remember to disable Local Test Mode when done! click on the 'Close' button to continiue.

Now click on the 'Settings' tab again and select 'Options'.

The 'Sound Devices' tab. Select Direct Sound™ if your soundcard supports Direct Sound, most cards do but it requires Microsoft's DirectX® Installed.

The 'Compatibility' checkbox should be left unticked.

The 'Direct Sound™ Input Buffer Size' setting should be set to maximum, however if your computers has less than 128MB RAM, and you are experiencing lag and scattered sounds then decrease little by little till you get a better result.

The 'Input and Output Devices' should if you have the option be set to use your Soundcards Wave Device. If you are using multiple Soundcards, you must select the Device for the Soundcard that your microphone is plugged in to. Click on 'Apply' then click on the 'Bandwidth' tab.

The 'Bandwidth' settings should for broadband users normally be set unlimited. If your connection is choking while TeamSpeak is running and you are downloading, uploading, streaming audio/video files or playing online games, simply adjust TeamSpeaks Bandwidth usage.
Dialup users should cap TeamSpeak around 48 kilobits per sec. Simply type 48 in both editboxes. Use a lower value if you have lag problems, or you have scattered sound or the sounds keeps "falling out". Click on 'Apply' and 'OK'

Now click on the 'Connection' tab and select 'Connect'.

Right click with the mouse in the new window and click on 'Add Server'. Name the server "Tides of War". Then fill in the required info in the window.

'Label' This is the name you just gave the server, you can change it if you want.
'Server Address' Enter tidesofwar.net Dont use http:// or www. prefixes.
'Nickname' Enter you prefered nickname / screenname.
'Anonymous' Tick if you have not yet registered.
'Registered' Tickks if you are registered and fill in your username and password.
'Auto Reconnect' Optional, but recommended, client reconnects if the line drops.
Click on 'Connect' you are now connecting to Tides of War's TeamSpeak Server.
